A weak race. ETERNAL STORY could write a winning chapter. His sixth place in a big field maiden hurdle at Navan last month wasn't a bad effort (runner-up has since delivered) and he should be able to build upon it. He has since finished fourth in a Roscommon bumper. Jockey Jack Foley has been in blistering form this month and he gets the leg up on Gaelic Des Chastys. This five-year-old gelding showed more when fourth in a Clonmel handicap hurdle at the end of last month. He has every chance on the back of that performance. Rathgearan switches to hurdles after four unplaced runs in bumpers. He got closer in each of those runs, though, and could go well for Danny Mullins.

TAGG'S ISLAND makes each-way appeal off bottom weight. He has a good record around Tramore having been placed in three of his four handicap hurdles at this track. He will appreciate this better ground and the minimum trip. He appeared not to get home over further at Downpatrick in August. Cheekpieces are tried on Downthecellar after he ran out when holding a narrow advantage before the second last in a handicap hurdle at Wexford. He was bidding for a five-timer that day (after four victories in a row over fences including three wins here), so is clearly a force to be reckoned with. Connections are bidding to exploit a whopping 37lb lower mark over hurdles than fences, so he holds a very obvious chance if taking to hurdling this time. Coolnacritta reappears under the 5lb penalty for winning at Fairyhouse on Saturday. He brought up plenty of bets when obliging by three lengths off a break since July. If he is in the same humour five days later, he will take plenty of beating.

There was a lot of promise in BROOMFIELD HALL's debut second over hurdles in Listowel and she is taken to go one better. This former mares' point-to-point bumper winner got to within a length and a quarter of the odds-on winner in Listowel. Afterwards, the horse that beat her was being considered for a graded novice hurdle in Down Royal at the end of the month. Shuil Valentine is dangerous. This Presenting mare created a big impression when winning a mares' bumper by nine lengths on debut at Naas in March. That earned her a crack at a Listed mares' bumper at Fairyhouse the following month in which she finished sixth. She has been off since then, presumably to strengthen up, and is a mare with plenty of ability. Motown Maggie's fourth place in Down Royal has been well franked which brings her into the mix. Some Dove can show improvement.

TULLYVEERY LAD brought his homework to the track when winning at Gowran Park and is taken to follow up. He was well backed and moved clear at the last hurdle before jumping it with his ears pricked. You would think there is more to come after he took the honours by five lengths. In-form Jack Foley is back on board. Paddy Wickla won over a similar trip in Clonmel at the end of last month and the runner-up boosted the form by going in at Fairyhouse. She was then second herself in Fairyhouse on Saturday and has to be respected if recent exertions haven't caught up with her. The veteran Supreme Vinnie enjoys this track and was last seen finishing runner-up here in August. Auckland was worn down in the closing stages at Punchestown on Tuesday but showed more in the first-time visor.

CHESTERVILLE needs to jump better than when well beaten at Limerick on Sunday but will enjoy getting back on better ground and Jordan Gainford claims a valuable 5lb. The Stowaway gelding won a maiden hurdle on a sound surface in July and ran well over nearly three miles when third in a handicap chase at Downpatrick last month. This trip looks on the sharp side for him but he might be able to put his chasing experience to good use in this company. Withallduerespect won a handicap hurdle at this venue in August and showed up well for a long way before fading on chasing bow at Downpatrick. She's another who will appreciate better ground. Henry de Bromhead also runs Tisadream who won her maiden hurdle here in June. She has a higher hurdles mark than her main rivals but lacks both a recent run and chasing experience.

CHAMPAGNE SPARKLES is blinkered for his chasing debut and is fancied on overall form in a winnable race. Placed in his two bumpers, he was runner-up in two maiden hurdles in the spring before being pulled up when long odds-on at Ballinrobe in May. That was obviously too bad to be true and he's had plenty of time to get over whatever was ailing him on that occasion. Recite A Prayer easily won a point-to-point last year but has plenty to find with the selection on hurdles form. He's turned out quickly for his first run over racecourse fences after finishing fourth at Downpatrick and could easily do better in this discipline. Optional Mix is another point-to-point winner and she was placed in three maiden hurdles in the summer. Although having plenty to find with the selection on hurdle ratings, she's another open to improvement as a chaser.

Runner-up at Downpatrick for his previous yard before a summer break, TEMPO CHAPTER TWO was hammered into odds-on at the Listowel Festival when starting off for Willie Mullins. The Morpheus gelding was caught close home by a quietly-fancied newcomer and can go one better with that run under his belt. The Waltzer looks a danger after a pleasing debut at Roscommon last month. The half-brother to dual bumper winner Weseekhimhere kept on steadily in the straight when beaten only six lengths in a maiden hurdle and should be more clued in here. Time Gents was runner-up at this venue in early June and filled the same position later that month at Wexford when a couple of subsequent bumper winners were behind him. He would have a chance if recapturing that form but has to leave behind a couple of moderate efforts in the meantime.
