HARVICK performed with a great deal of credit when runner-up over 6f here last time and will be well fancied to go one better tonight. Glenwood Ace was 2 1/2-lengths behind the selection that day (finishing third) and should be on the premises once again, while Diamond Hard Cut is another worthy of consideration.
It could pay to side with GAETA. This filly showed plenty of encouraging signs in a recent workout and is likely to be fairly wound up for her racecourse debut. Specialicious is taking a significant drop in grade and rates the biggest threat, while Firey Splendor is another that cannot be ruled out with any confidence.
ASK VICTORIA produced a gallant effort in defeat when runner-up over this trip at Tampa last time and, with a slightly easier task ahead of her tonight, she gets the confident nod to go one better. Thekaiserspride is clearly heading the right way and looks the most likely danger, while Tame The Dice is another with claims.
NATIONAL HERO didn't appear to get home when third over an extended 1m at Laurel last time and, with this drop in trip likely to suit, he can regain the winning thread. Fujimo has been knocking on the door recently and is likely to ask most questions, while Beau Bock is another respected contender.
HENNY HOBBS flattened out in the closing stages when runner-up over 6f here last time and gets the vote to go one better dropped in trip tonight. Sir Classic Chris has been running well in defeat recently and could give the selection most to think about, while Mr. Moonshine is another that warrants respect.
This should go to MAGGIESUPTOWN, who returned to form with a close second over six and a half furlongs at Tampa Bay last month. Dropped in class here, she should go one better. Wildfire Feat was second in a similar contest here last time and should be open to plenty of improvement after just two starts while Markswayornoway won a $25k maiden claimer over this trip at Tampa and must come into consideration.
Hard to rule any of these out but ADOPTED ARRIVAL and Whoopi Again finished first and second in a slightly weaker contest at Laurel last time and it would be no surprise if they were to repeat the feat here, especially as the winner has decent form in better contests. Tactical Assault is in good form but has finished behind Whoopi Again and Dude Again in recent starts.
Thunder Rising was only beaten a head in a modest claimer here latest but has claims on his earlier efforts while Codigo Postal, although somewhat flattered by his form figures, takes a big drop in class tonight. However, so does CONDUCT OF HONOUR and his form in going close in valuable claimers at Belmont in his last two starts should be good to land this.
Red Magic, Ferrous, I Testify and Dr. Field have all won similar contests recently but are very much of a muchness and who will come out on top this time is anyone's guess. It may pay to ignore these regular rivals and instead go with WHERE'S MY HALO, who hasn't won for nearly two years but has been running in much better company. Dropped in class tonight, he might finally get back to winning ways.
