David Evans has his string in fine form at present and market support for Steeley Flyer, or any of the other newcomers, should be heeded. Experience counts for a lot in this type of event, however, and MR SMITHSON and Mal And Dave set a decent standard for the remainder to aim at. SEA ROVER showed nothing in three starts last year, but bounced back to form on his first outing for 11 months when second off a 1lb lower mark at Thirsk 16 days ago. Normal improvement for the run would surely see him thereabouts here. Tangerine Trees should be suited by this extra furlong and could improve on his recent third over Beverley's stiff five, while recent Nottingham winner Misplaced Fortune may not be too inconvenienced by a 4lb rise in the handicap.

Joinedupwriting will need to improve on the form of his recent victory in a 1m2f Ripon seller if he is to follow up, but that was his first outing since October and he could do just that. Papa's Princess is another likely improver, as she was returning from an even longer absence when a close fourth over 1m at Hamilton some three weeks ago, but a tentative vote goes the way of JOHNSTON'S BABY.
