Several in with chances here but preference is for AFTERNOON CAT, second in this grade over C&D last time out. He has form in better company, however, and might have the edge over these rivals. Shrewd Stipulation and Merrimack Pat have been knocking on the door in this grade recently and can fight out the minor honours.
This should go the way of SOUTHERN TAP, who romped home by more than seven lengths over a route here when dropped to this grade last month. Her form in better company suggests she'll take all the beating tonight. Morgan, Full Queen and Jimmy's Palace can fight out the minor honours.
Cody Monster won a $5k claimer over five and a half furlongs here in some style this month and has claims on that form while Deep Regret was a long way back in fifth in that race but has shown himself capable of better. They could be playing for places, however, behind E. J. LITTLE BOY, who won a $12.5k claimer over 6f here last week.
This might provide the ideal opportunity for SILKY WINGS to record her first success of the year and only the second of her carer. She's been running well in this grade in sprints but recent efforts suggest she's ready to to return to a route trip. Lil Ashley Girl has run well in similar contests but has plenty to find with Princessnthepauper on their running over C&D last month.
Fast Draw Lady, Talk Twice, My Princess and Happy Party have met a few times recently and there seems little between them here so it might pay to take a chance on Fast Draw Lady's barnmate, LADDER. She met up with these rivals on her debut over C&D last month but was too slowly away to take a hand. She's clocked some fine times, however, on her workouts and, if she can transfer that form to the track, could be capable of seeing off these rivals.
HALF A NOTE went down by the narrowest of margins in a similar contest over track and trip most recently and he gets the confident nod to go one better tonight. Yes It's Timmy and Suave Charmer are both stepping up in grade after last time out wins and are expected to ask most questions.
REPEAT WINNER is sure to arrive here full of confidence after winning on his last couple of visits to the racetrack and should be able to complete the hat-trick tonight. Nicoletti won in gritty fashion over track and trip last time and is unlikely to go down without fighting, while Early Again is no forlorn hope.
SPEAKING OUT gets the vote to land this prize. He probably found the five and a half furlong trip too sharp when well beaten here last time and would prove tough to beat if recapturing the sort of form which saw him touched off over track and trip previously. Youbethecan and Chinsegut Bay finished third and fourth respectively that day and must improve to turn the tables.
CERTAIN CIRCLES won with plenty in hand over an extended 1m here last time and could take some stopping in his bid to follow up. Danger To Society has been running well in defeat recently and should give another good account, while Chief Operator cannot be left out of calculations.
