A warm novice hurdle, with Oscar Tanner interesting reverting to these ranks after an excellent second behind a well-treated rival in handicap company over C&D on Boxing Day. He ought to continue his progression, while Masquerade was a fortuitous victor on his debut over timber, and he should appreciate this stiffer test for all that a better surface would suit. GETABUZZ was revitalised in first-time blinkers last time, and Tim Easterby's charge can defy a penalty with conditions to suit and the promise of more to come.

It's disconcerting to see the cheekpieces left off SWATOW TYPHOON, who has looked short of concentration in his two victories this term, but Donald McCain's charge is taken to complete the hat-trick with the opposition in the lineup not up to his class. Alpha Victor has looked recalcitrant this campaign and he was well beaten when refusing on his sole chase start in February, while point-to-point scorer Isaacstown Lad will need to step up on markedly on that form to land this on debut under Rules.

Watch out for: Alpha Victor (2)

Swatow Typhoon has a tendency to race incredibly lazily, but still boasts an impressive strike rate, and has been found what looks another excellent opportunity to go in again. Alpha Victor didn't impress on his only other try over fences, and Isaacstown Lad is just preferred for the forecast position.

He ought to remain competitive despite a 6lb rise, but COMEBACK COLIN has proved a major eye-catcher on in two novice events this campaign and is taken to score now sent handicapping on his return from a break. Markem and Sedgefield specialist Sam Lord complete the shortlist.

A wide-open heat, with Shadows Lengthen respected after shaping promisingly on only his second start in a handicap chase before coming to grief last time, while Consigliere is dangerously well handicapped on the pick of last term's form. Tranquil Sea evidently isn't the force of old and was probably flattered to finish second on his debut for Warren Greatrex, but DUNOWEN POINT is of particular interest returned to this trip off 1lb lower than when second to the progressive Cloudy Too at Wetherby in February.

Tranquil Sea and Consigliere have both been much better than this in their time and are obviously of interest in a less-competitive event that they usually contest. Cloudy Dawn is well handicapped returning from a break but is opposable at this trip, while Pistol Basc has his quirks and would be no guarantee to follow up his latest C&D success off 7lb higher. Monbeg looks handicapped to his best at present, while Forestside will pop up at some point over further, but PRINCE BLACKTHORN doesn't have many miles on the clock and a 9lb rise for his victory last month isn't excessive. He is taken to score again.
