DEFI DU SEUIL accounted for Politologue (second) in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham last month and is fancied to confirm that form here for Philip Hobbs. The versatile six-year-old proved 20 days ago that he has enough pace to cope with two miles, and probably has the most scope for improvement in this field at the age of just six. STEP BACK put in a career-best performance when winning the big end-of-season handicap over C&D in April 2018 and could get his own way in front under Jamie Moore, who partnered Mark Bradstock's charge on that occasion. He has had a wind operation over the summer and the ground appears to have come right for him. Classic Ben was fourth on his reappearance at Bangor but can be opposed off this mark at the likely prices, while Royal Vacation ran a blinder for third in the Badger Ales at Wincanton and won't be deterred by the additional yardage.
