The appropriately-named HAIRDRYER, given his connections, makes plenty of appeal on his racecourse debut for Richard Hannon and the booking of Ryan Moore only inspires further confidence. A 42,000gns purchase at Tattersalls in November last year, the stoutly-bred son of Motivator is a half-brother to stable companion Emell and is expected to have been well readied. In The Red also represents Hannon on debut and he fetched 36,000 pounds at DBS last August, while Montsarrat and Knight Commander are also respected.

The Hannon team have a tremendous record in this maiden, and HAIRDRYER is taken to make a successful debut for the yard with Ryan Moore up. Montsarrat is an interesting newcomer for the red-hot Mark Johnston stable and needs monitoring in the betting also with Cosmeapolitan and the selection's stablemate In The Red.

ANGELITO appears to have been found a real opening against these rivals and he has been banging hard on the door in recent starts. Beaten a head into fourth in a similar race at Goodwood earlier this month, that from reads well in the context of this sprint contest and Ed McMahon has secured the services of talented apprentice rider Tom Marquand, who claims a valuable 5lb in the plate. Whitecrest arrives in good nick and Midnight Rider should go close if building on his Windsor effort last time.

In what looked a warm Newbury maiden, TWIN SAILS outran odds of 28-1 to win narrowly from John Splendid and showed his battling qualities in the process. The son of Sir Percy is entitled to have learned a lot from that first outing and produced a stylish turn of foot at the furlong pole - suggesting the drop to 6f would play to his strengths. Racquet got off the mark at the second attempt here 15 days ago and is another to consider, while the more experienced Unilit is also a player.

RACQUET quickened up well when scoring here earlier this month and can give his yard a third win in this in 5 years with the prospect of more improvement to come. Newbury winner Twin Sails looks the obvious danger.

MARMOT looked a lot sharper for the application of cheekpieces when winning at Brighton and is worth following from a 6lb higher mark. Sheepskins are fitted to Darshini for the first time after he was touched off at Goodwood and he looks a big danger. Process remains open to further improvement, and had Simple Verse in arrears when he scored at Kempton. The latter has run well in defeat again since and is capable of better. Polarisation has been kept up to his work but is in fine fettle at present, while Man Look showed encouraging signs at Newbury.

Watch out for: Darshini (1)

DARSHINI remains unexposed over this sort of trip and could resume winning ways if the fitting of cheekpieces has a positive effect. Marmot and Man Look similarly both look open to further improvement and should also be considered.

LIGHTNING SPEAR has clearly had plenty of problems, but to his credit, he remains unbeaten from three starts and a 5lb rise for winning gamely on his seasonal reappearance at Lingfield is fair. He remains open to plenty of further improvement and is fancied to beat off Rekdhat, who was last seen winning at Musselburgh in September and has Ryan Moore booked for her return, and handicap debutant Algaith.

Top Tip: Lightning Spear (1)
Watch out for: Rekdhat (3)

The unbeaten LIGHTNING SPEAR needs to prove that he can stand his racing, but certainly looks open to further progress, and could well make it 4 out of 4 if in the same form as when winning in good style again at Lingfield in April. Rekdhat and Man of Harlech both remain unexposed on their respective returns and need keeping on side.
