WHIRLIJIG is the clear pick on official figures and should appreciate the drop in trip after weakening over 1m4f in handicap company at Doncaster. She showed enough in three maiden events prior to that to be handed a confident vote here. Rossini's Dancer appears the pick of the Richard Fahey pair and he should mount a bold bid despite the burden of top-weight. La Columbina has disappointed in three starts this year and has something to prove at present.
Whirlijig is the stand-out performer on this first try in a seller. Whipma Whopma Gate has a bit to find on these terms, but she's no mug and won't be rolled over easily. La Columbina only has to refind a sliver of last year's form in order to get involved.

IRON VELVET impressed when making a winning handicap debut over the trip at Catterick and although the handicapper has responded with a 9lb rise, Mark Johnston's colt appeared to have plenty in hand that day and could be capable of finding the necessary improvement to defy his revised mark. Eight Hours races from 6lb out the handicap but his recent second behind Agent Boo at Ayr was a decent effort and he is respected, while Val C is more exposed than most but she posted another creditable effort to finish third over the minimum at Newmarket trip and today's extra furlong should pose few problems.
Val C, third at Newmarket recently and trying 6f for the first time, could just be the answer to this typically trappy nursery. The Middleham duo, Iron Velvet and Novay Essjay, are less exposed than many in the line-up and look capable of bringing more to the table.

Ella would have to enter calculations if the ground were to ride on the soft side but GRANSTON boasts an impressive record at this venue, winning three times, and their was plenty to like about his latest second over the trip at Beverley. Another bold bid seems assured despite a 3lb rise in the handicap. Wing Play sauntered clear to record an effortless success at Sandown and rates the main threat, while Knight's Victory is open to more progression than most after landing his maiden over the C&D and he is also respected.
Recent course-and-distance scorer Knight's Victory is well bred and a potential big improver, so he might leave the handicapper with egg all over his face come the business end of affairs. Distant Memories is another with ammunition still to fire, while Jeer is well handicapped if bouncing back to his best.

Bould Mover and TAWAABB are closely matched on official figures but Mick Channon's colt is open to further progression after only four starts and receives 2lbs from the top-weight here. His penultimate third behind Radiohead in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes is the best form on offer and he could prove tough to beat. Absolute Music would be a threat if returning to the form that saw her finish fourth in a Listed event at Sandown in July but her recent effort at Newbury tempers enthusiasm.
A decent contest in which the fast filly Absolute Music just gets the nod. Bould Mover and Tawwaabb shouldn't be far behind, while Falasteen could yet step up and play a part having shown speed to burn at York recently.

Leyte Gulf highlighted his resolution with a determined success over 1m6f at Haydock and the manner in which he was staying on at the finish suggests today's greater emphasis on stamina will suit. An extra 5lbs is fair but JACKDAY takes a drop in grade after faring well in a stronger event at Beverley and he should mount a bold bid under ideal conditions. Aleron has been performing well in some tough contests over fences and his current flat rating looks feasible. He has to be respected and completes the short-list.
Plenty of potential permutations and it might be worth chancing Unawatuna, reunited with the excellent Kelly Harrison, who was aboard when the filly posted a couple of good efforts earlier in the season. Abstract Folly and Jackday are other possibles in a wide-open affair.
