TORPEDO CAT showed plenty of early pace when runner-up over seven furlongs at this track and this drop in trip could see him go one better. Similarly, Sprickett was up with the early fractions in that race and wasn't far behind in third. He earns a spot on the shortlist along with Rovin Man, who chased home a subsequent winner last month.
Not A Word got going late on over a sterner test at Aqueduct so the drop in trip here doesn't look an obvious positive. Therefore, a chance is taken on the consistent SOUTHERN JOURNEY, who can fare better on dirt over this sharper yardage. The shortlist is completed by recent runner-up All About Abby.
CONTE got going too late in more valuable company last month and can gain compensation for that close third tonight. Varborough also made belated headway over six furlongs to finish third at Monmouth so the extra half a furlong should suit, and Tiny Predicament wasn't stopping when he scored at this track over a furlong less.
ON A STAR left her debut form behind when only succumbing by a neck here earlier in the month and with the step up in trip to suit, this looks a good opportunity to open her account. The eased-in-grade duo of Luigina and She's Sassy make each-way appeal.
MODEST MOUSE remains open to significant improvement on only his seventh career start, and he makes plenty of appeal reverting to this grade having been caught wide in hot starter company here last month. Real Real Soon and Boss Of Me are preferred for the minor money in that order.
Some torrid wins-to-runs records on display, but OKLAHOMA DEN made a promising return when a length-and-a-quarter second at Monmouth, and he rates a solid proposition with that run behind him. Shoeless Joe and East Bound Train can chase him home.
HAUNTED VISION could hardly have been more impressive when making all on her racecourse debut here last month and big things are expected with improvement forthcoming. Louisa Girl and Monaguska can also make the frame.
RUN LIKE MILLIE won on her first start for new trainer Susan Crowell at Laurel Park in December last year and she's well respected given she's four wins from six career starts. Classy Coco and Dani's Storm are other interesting contenders.
