In what looks a tricky start to proceedings, it could pay to side with PHANTOM REGIMENT. This gelding wasn't too far when eighth over this trip at Keeneland last time and has much less on his plate tonight. Dr. Balin is also taking a significant drop in grade and seems sure to make his presence felt here, while Johnnyjimmychoo is another with claims.
Steely Vana is likely to be well fancied here but after a disappointing effort last time it could pay to oppose her with the less exposed DEVIL'S SQUEEZE who will appreciate the return to this trip having competed over 7f last week. Lit Benna is up in grade but could prove best of the rest.
Snuck Around has not shaped without promise on his three runs to date and can figure along with Pit Alley, who showed plenty of dash on his debut at Delaware and might appreciate the extra furlong. However, this is a good opportunity for LITTLE TURTLE to open his account at the fourth attempt after a solid effort over 6f at Delaware earlier this month.
NEW ENGLANDER's latest start at Philadelphia proved a nightmare for her supporters as she got trapped wide around the bend and then drifted dramatically backwards in the home straight, but she is better than that dreadful run might suggest as she showed when taking a couple of maiden-special-weight prizes at Presque Isle Downs in August. Bouley Bakery has the form to figure if at her best, but was only third when last seen in this grade having been sent off favourite. A case can be made for Kinfolk on her best form.
PRESS THE LIMIT gets the call having made a debut full of promise when running on well to finish third at Presque Isle Downs. With that initial experience under her belt, she can open her account at the chief expense of the well bred newcomer Our Thing and Petch.
GOLD PURCHASE lost little in defeat when runner-up over this trip at Presque Isle Downs last time and gets the confident nod to go one better tonight. Wizards's Laugh faces a much easier task than his recent seventh at Belmont and could pose the main danger, while Write Home is another with solid place credentials.
LATENIGHT SURPRISE was impressive when landing the spoils over this track and trip last time and could take some stopping in her bid to follow up. Miss Duckhorn has the four-timer firmly in her sights and is unlikely to go down without a fight, while Extreme Ways is another worthy of consideration.
Graded By Results comes into this in terrific form and he can be expected to lay down another bold challenge with White Buck and Kalamazoo also interesting. However, VALID NOTEBOOK was seen contesting much stronger company last time and dropped in class tonight, he looks sure to go very well.
