INVENTOR was well beaten last time in a good novice event at Kempton but scored over 2m at Ascot before that on his hurdling bow. This looks a weaker contest and he should be capable of recording his second success over timber. Ladies Best looks to be going the right way and could be the one for the forecast, while Pokfulham was an impressive third on his debut over hurdles at Doncaster and could take a hand in the finish.
Inventor will be more at home against this less demanding opposition and can resume winning ways under his penalty. Apollo Shark is likely to pose more of a threat than Pokfulham if his stamina holds out.

Timoca scored twice in 16 runs on the Flat in Ireland and should go well on her hurdling bow. Aint She The Lady was a good second over this trip at Sedgefield last time and looks one for the shortlist but preference is for MISS VERTICAL, a decent third over 2m 1f at Bangor last month on her hurdling debut. She's open to plenty of improvement after just four runs and this step up in trip looks in her favour.
Miss Vertical ran a race full of promise on her hurdling debut, and with improvement to come, she should prove hard to beat here. Karingreason caught the eye at Catterick and can do better, while Timoca is an interesting recruit from the Flat.

It's taken INSTANT SHOT a while to get the hang of things over fences but he turned in his best effort to date when second over 2m 4f at Newcastle this month. Stamina shouldn't be a problem and he looks capable of finding the small amount of improvement needed to land the spoils here. Manoubi is reaching the veteran stage but would have claims on his best form, while Copper's Gold is struggling but has been given a chance by the handicapper.
Recent form is thin on the ground here and Instant Shot looks the one to beat following his good second last time. Manoubi and Copper's Gold look best of the rest.

Nothing but her best will do here with two promising newcomers in the field. Ascendant won three of his last four starts on the Flat and looks sure to go well for a top jumps trainer but the nod goes to GORDONSVILLE, an experienced campaigner on the level and winner of a 2m Flat handicap here last autumn.
Kind Heart looks the pick of those with experience over hurdles but she ran poorly last time and this could be best left to the 2 useful Flat recruits Gordonsville and Ascendant. The former, who went well here on the Flat, is taken to make a winning start over timber.

It's difficult to oppose THE SNAIL here as he chases a five-timer. He only got up by a nose at Ludlow last month and carries another 3lb today but might still be open to some improvement. The fact he has been sent here from South Wales suggests connections have plenty of confidence in him. Seize has been chasing and won over 3m here last season but he returns to the smaller obstacles off a decent mark and could go close. Rare Coincidence has claims on his best form.
Witherspoon remains capable of better now tackling handicaps and this longer trip should be in his favour too. Seize ran a better race last time and can chase the selection home, with the much-improved The Snail looking best of the rest.

He appears to still be on an upward curve but might find one too good in SEA VENTURE, who ended a run of 19 defeats over hurdles with an impressive C&D success last month on his chasing bow. Bridlingtonbygones, a narrow winner over C&D on his debut, and Chester Lad, only beaten a nose over this track and trip first time out, have obvious claims in this company while Irish point-to-point winner Sunnyside can also be given a chance. Preference, however, is for the newcomer, HOBSONS BAY, who cost connections a whopping 170,000 pounds just over a year ago. He's related to some top National Hunt sorts and looks sure to give a good account of himself today.
Bridlingtonbygones showed a good attitude when making a winning debut over C&D last month and can prove too strong for the similarly promising Chester Lad. Hobsons Bay and Young Alfie are likely newcomers that also enter the equation if the market speaks in their favour.
