The penalised Peopleton Brook has been in rattling good form of late and seems sure to make his mark again but slight preference is for HOLLOW JO who only narrowly missed out over C&D last month. He can go one better today. Elusive Ronnie is another who has been in cracking form of late and he makes up the shortlist along with Grand Palace.
Hollow Jo usually comes good at this time of year and served notice that his turn was near again when runner-up over C&D on the final day of 2009. Grand Palace, The Geester and Elusive Ronnie are other likely contenders.

Il Forno didn't enjoy the best of runs round when third at Wolverhampton last time but he is beginning to prove a little frustrating now and is passed over in favour of SUNRISE LYRIC. Paul Cole's daughter of Rock Of Gibralter has shaped with plenty of promise in two polytrack maidens so far, the most recent of which came when fourth in a decent maiden won by Burghley at Wolverhampton two weeks ago. She looks to hold strong claims here. The experienced Tatawor rates best of the rest.
Sunrise Lyric boasts the best recent form, but she could be vulnerable over this shorter trip and preference is for Posy Fossil, who showed enough in sprint maidens last year to suggest a race of this nature is within her grasp. Il Forno has had plenty of chances, but still appeals most of the remainder.

It could prove folly to look past CLEAR SAILING who has been in terrific form of late and and completed a quick double with an easy success over 1m 2f here eleven days ago. Despite slight doubts on his first try at longer trip, he certainly hasn't been stopping of late and looks well treated at these weights. Recent winner Fantasy Ride was back to something like his best last time and is entitled to run well again with Sunset Boulevard sure to have his say once more.
Clear Sailing and Theocritus boast obvious claims once more at this level. Neither has proved their stamina over this far, but the sharp track will help in that regard, and the former just gets the nod. Sunset Boulevard will be waiting in the wings if either starts treading water in the closing stages.

GALLANTRY stands out on recent form having turned in a cracking effort in a well contested Class 3 handicap at Kempton last week and a similar performance today could well be good enough. Hereford Boy was a good winner at Kempton latest and ought to make his mark again although recent convincing C&D winner Prince Of Thebes should give the selection most to think about.
Prince Of Thebes will probably try and steal this from the front, but Gallantry looks favourite to overhaul him having come so far down the weights.

Freedom Fire sets the standard having turned in another cracking effort when only narrowly touched off over 1m 2f around here last week. Another bold bid seems likely but he has had a few chances now and it could be worth taking a chance on the lightly raced ON TERMS. Following a satisfactory introduction at this course, the Aptitude filly turned in a much improved performance when second last time. There could be further improvement to come and she is fancied to go one better today. Dovedon Earl rates best of the rest.
On Terms is going the right way and with so few miles on the clock makes more appeal than either Freedom Fire or Law of The Jungle.

FINE SILK has clearly benefited from the switch to the Mick Quinlan stable and produced her most accomplished performance so far when only finding Spinning Bailwick too strong on her handicap debut over this trip at Wolverhampton earlier this month. Sure to strip fitter for that run first since August, she has plenty going for her today and gets the vote at the expense of recent C&D fourth Billberry and the well treated Kyle.
The unexposed Fine Silk boasts a smart pedigree and, having shown much improved form for her new stable last week, looks on the brink of a first success. Plenty of dangers, though, Kyle and Goodbye Cash the main ones.

It could pay to concentrate on the two recent winners Headache and STRAIGHT FACE with preference for the latter who could hardly have won any easier when dotting up over this trip at Wolverhampton five days ago. If in a similar mood today, he could prove hard to beat again.
