THE GLOBE (7) made it six minor placings from seven starts when she battled on well for third over 1118m at Geelong last time. Just missed in a couple of 1000m runs prior to that, so this looks her optimum trip. Worth one more chance with Oliver taking over. LORD PARAMOUNT (1) was scratched from Werribee yesterday. Last appeared on 24 July when a midfield over 1400m at Caulfield after leading into the straight. Gelded over the break and has trialled twice leading into this. A big run is on the cards. THE PUP (8) had the box-seat and worked home fairly to finish third on debut over this distance at Moe a fortnight ago. Likely improver. BIRD OF DUBAI (3) is a back-marker who has been safely held in two runs this prep. A smaller field and J Kah going on bring her under notice. MESCHEVER (5) and HEARDYOU (4) are first starters who have been kept safe in early markets. Respect any further positive moves in the betting.

Can improve enough to take this out. ENDLESSLY (6) made it three seconds from as many runs this prep when she led but found one better over 1300m at Sandown last time. Very fit mare with the pace to negate a wide alley. Sure to play a big role. FIRST PLATOON (3) returned from a spell as a gelding last start and really caught the eye, charging home from well back to be beaten a whisker over this trip at Kyneton. Can settle a bit closer from a better gate this time. Must be respected. DAYTONA BAY (2) is an American Pharoah debutant for Peter Moody. Bred to want further but there is plenty of early market confidence so keep him safe. KIKUYU (4) is in the mix on a 32-day freshen-up.

GUNS ABLAZING (1) was given a peach of a ride by Oliver last start and proved too strong in a similar race to this. Goes up 2.5kgs which is a niggling concern over this trip but he is rock-hard fit and can get the job done again. SAVING (3) started warm favourite in the race won by Guns Ablazing here a fortnight ago but after leading didn't show a lot in the run home. Enjoys a 4.5kgs weight swing this evening after the claim. With a soft lead he might take some running down. RISING ARCHIE (7) worked home fairly to finish fifth over 2040m here last start. Grinding type who needs this trip; it's worth noting he is out of the Melbourne Cup runner-up She's Archie. PISSARO (6) was flat-footed over 2040m at this track most recently. Ready to improve third up out to this more suitable trip. MILESTONE (5) won under a big weight at Moe last time. Harder here but not without claims.

Probably the toughest race on the card. WEGOBAM (4) ran on powerfully once extracted from a pocket to finish runner-up over the straight-six at Flemington last start. Drops sharply in grade and at the third run back will be ready to peak. ETHEKWINI (5) led and fought hard but was edged out late when resuming over this distance at Pakenham five weeks ago. Races well when a bit on the new side and with D Lane taking over she is a genuine contender. CHERRYPICK (12) is a lightly-raced filly from the Moody stable who won her maiden comfortably at Cranbourne recently. Big step up this evening but from a nice draw she can run a cheeky race at odds. The speedy SACRED SNOW (15) is back from an eight-month spell. Switched from Maher/Eustace to Waller over the break. Looked very smart winning her maiden at the end of last prep. Keep her very safe. QUEEN ZYRAH (6) was strong late over this course and distance last start. Ready to peak at the third run back.
