The Price and Kent Stable bring a strong hand to the opener. SKETCHED (6) thumped a maiden field around Mornington first up having been campaigned as though a smart one in the autumn. He might be ready to go right on with it now. Stablemate KAYGEEBEE (11) beat a couple with nice profiles at Pakenham with the runner up coming out and measuring up okay in the Prelude last week. Think he has a chance. EL PADRINO (1) was just a neck away in the McKenzie around here, finishing alongside SHALAMAN (2) who then stepped out and won last time. The pair should be right in the mix in very similar grade. CUSTODIAN (10) won in slow time at Sale but he has the profile of a smart one.

ENGLISH RIVIERA (7) showed good pace and for a long while travelled like the winner at Flemington but she did work into the headwind that day and looked to pay the price for that work late in the piece. She can be better for it and she can be better served flying around the Valley against very similar opposition. GHAANATI (9) was plain behind her but was always awkwardly placed and might be another well worth forgiving into a different scenario now. From the Valley lead up TROACH (4) beat LADY LAGUNA (3) in a strongly run race that should hold up as a solid piece of form at this level. I'MLOVIN'YA (6) was on their heels in third having looked a touch stiff behind Bound For Home in the Quezette. She looks sure to run well again.

Plenty of improvers here but think he can cash in. FOUJITA SAN (7) was the one-time Guineas favourite and started shorter than Tijuana last time. Yet to come good on that market expectation but he is another that could benefit from the step up to a mile and he can come right to his peak now third up. GREAT HOUSE (4) has work to do to turn the tables on MAKRAM (7) from Flemington but that was a slowly run race and his late work there said he has come back in terrific order for the spring. Should get a stronger pace to run at this time and can be ridden with more enterprise now second up. No issues with where Makram will be in the run from the good draw. Right on the back of that speed and hard to hold out. Tougher for DESERT ICON (8) but he is reliable and this is the right race for him. NONCONFORMIST (1) is given his chance back in much easier now. KISSONALLFORCHEEKS (1) is clearly the one to beat here with most of these coming through that race and the ones that come from elsewhere looking in need of taking a big step forward to measure up. LADY OF HONOUR (10) ran really well there, leading and giving a good kick, and she can do the same again. DAISIES (9) and GLINT OF HOPE (8) are the two most interesting away from the favourite. Both were just first up at Flemington and both are much better suited getting up to the mile. Daisies was right up around her best rating there and was a mile winner at the Valley second up last prep. That bodes well. FOXY FRIDA (2) is the other that is sure to be fancied.
