POP THE HOOD is a five-time winner in his native USA and the last three of those wins came over this trip. It is hard to assess his form but the son of Street Cry was not disgraced in a stakes event last time out and an opening mark of 95 appears to be fair. Honorable Treasure is a rare American-trained runner at the Carnival not on World Cup night and he only found the high-class Audible too good in a stakes event over 7f on the Breeders' Cup undercard in November. It is a positive that connections have booked a jockey with plenty of experience at this track and he is another who could be ahead of his mark. Almanaara is a talented individual but he is arguably better dominating weaker rivals in local handicaps, while Laieth will have to prove himself on this dirt surface.
LAIETH receives the vote in a tightly-knit handicap. He was caught only by a fellow improver on his Wolverhampton handicap debut in November and highly likely has a bigger performance in the locker. I Kirk is respected making his handicap bow back from 6 months off, with Almanaara also feared.

Jukebox Jive represents the same connections as Dream Today, who won here last week, but this gelding appears to be vulnerable in this contest. ISPOLINI failed to reward favourite backers when finishing second over 1m4f here two weeks ago. However, the way he stayed on that day suggests that this extra couple of furlongs should suit and he remains on the same handicap mark, while the gelding is entitled to improve given that was his first start since last May. The veteran Red Galileo was last seen finishing a respectable sixth in the Dubai Gold Cup over 2m here on World Cup night last March and the eight-year-old has form figures of 1343 in handicap company at this venue, so it would be no surprise to see him in the mix once again today. Speedo Boy has been in good form over hurdles of late but, while he is very talented on the Flat, he will have to improve to defy his current mark in a race of this nature. Appeared made an encouraging debut for new connections behind Ispolini here earlier in the month and he could pick up some minor prize money.
ISPOLINI is a very low-mileage 4-y-o and shaped with plenty of promise on his return over shorter here 2 weeks ago, finding only another Godolphin in-mate too strong. He's just the type to flourish this year and earns the vote to come out on top. Speedo Boy and Norwegian-raider Suspicious Mind head up the dangers in a competitive affair.

A wide-open contest but the marginal preference is for SECRET AMBITION, who won three handicaps on the dirt here last season. He put in a career-best effort when chasing home Kimbear over C&D in the Group 3 Burj Nahaar in March and his performance in the Godolphin Mile can be forgiven, as it was his seventh start in the space of five months. He tends to need his first run of the season and ran as though that was the case in the Dubai Creek Mile here in December. Rodaini displayed a good attitude to win over 7f here two starts ago but appears to be better over that trip and that has to be a concern. Thegreatcollection has some good form to his name and he is closely matched with the selection based on a couple of previous meetings. Galvanize returned to winning ways over this track and trip last month and he is another who could go very well, while Desert Frost has to be respected given his connections but this is his dirt debut and that is a concern. Capezzano and Fitzgerald are both talented individuals but their most recent form has been poor.
GALVANIZE was much improved when winning over C&D last month and a 9 lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid if he’s in the same kind of form. Rodaini, Draco and Secret Ambition are a trio of others to consider in a competitive race.

Saeed bin Suroor's pair Asoof and Victory Wave both merit consideration in what appears to be a weak renewal of this contest. The first of those appears to be the number one for the yard based on jockey bookings but she was beaten off a mark of 96 at Newmarket last time and has to prove herself at this level. Victory Wave was not disgraced in an open handicap over 7f here two weeks ago but that form is unlikely to be good enough. Poetic Charm has the best chance of the Godolphin runners having beaten the Royal Ascot winner Agrotera in a Listed race at Longchamp in September. That said, preference is for FURIA CRUZADA, who was only beaten a short-head in a 1m1f Group 2 here 11 months ago. For the first time in a while she had a long break over the summer last year and she has possibly needed her first two starts of this season. The seven-year-old was not disgraced in the Group 3 Singspiel Stakes against male rivals two weeks ago and that form gives her a big chance today.
This isn't a strong race by Group 2 standards and it provides POETIC CHARM with an excellent chance to regain the winning thread, particularly as her effort at Keeneland in October is easy to forgive. Victory Wave should strip fitter this time and is worth a crack at this level, while an on-song Furia Cruzada would be a danger to the pair.

It is interesting that James Doyle appears to have chosen Celestial Spheres over some talented stablemates from Charlie Appleby's yard. The five-year-old improved significantly on the all-weather in the UK a couple of seasons ago and he ran well in a valuable handicap at Newmarket when last seen in May. That said, NORDIC LIGHTS has more eye-catching form having finishing fifth behind Roaring Lion in the Dante last season. The son of Intello finished eighth of 16 in the Hampton Court Stakes most recently at Royal Ascot, which is traditionally one of the strongest Group 3 contests run in Europe. He has been gelded since that event and it would be no surprise to see him pick up a race like this at the Carnival. Mountain Hunter won a similar contest over C&D last year off just 3lb lower in the ratings and he chased home the subsequent Group 1 winner Blair House on his next start. Two disappointing runs in the UK in September are a slight concern but he may just be at home at Meydan.
MOUNTAIN HUNTER won over this C&D around a year ago, and though he shaped as though amiss in the Cambridgeshire when last seen in the autumn, he's in top hands and his mark is very workable if he's back on his game. Celestial Spheres has been off even longer but was progressive when last seen, with Earnshaw completing the shortlist.

Key Victory was extremely well supported in the betting market prior to disappointing in the Group 3 Singspiel Stakes over 1m1f here earlier in the month.
