A weak contest where very few have any sort of claims. Claude Carter ran his best race for a while when third behind Morning With Ivan at Carlisle and has decent claims of getting a first success since January 2015. However, preference goes to AVEL VOR, who has put up two solid efforts at Stratford and may have more improvement to come. Triple Eight shouldn't be too far away on the form with Claude Carter.
BRIGADOON clearly comes with risks attached given his recent record, yet on the back of success on the Flat recently he may well be up to making his mark now tackling selling company over timber. Claude Carter ran well at Cartmel recently and is feared, with Triple Eight partnered by James King also making each-way appeal.

BIRCH HILL finally got off the mark over hurdles having improved for the switch from Nicky Henderson to Sophie Leech and is entitled to improve again for the step back up in distance. Hassle ran okay in the Summer Hurdle when ninth behind Red Tornado and should find this a much easier task with the step up in trip not appearing to be an issue. Gran Paradiso is likely to benefit from his first effort over hurdles and is respected.
Highly likely this will develop into a match between recent course scorer BIRCH HILL and Hassle, with the former narrowly preferred with the return to a longer trip sure to be in his favour.

Nicky Henderson's duo Hammersly Lake and One For The Guv'nr both have questions to answer in the jumping department having both failed to complete on their chasing debuts. Of those pair, the former would be the preferred choice with Nico De Boinville on board, but preference is for REJAAH who has been in a rich vein of form over hurdles, winning a valuable handicap at Warwick, and gets over a stone from all of her rivals. She wasn't completely disgraced in the Summer Hurdle behind Red Tornado and should thrive going chasing. Gran Maestro was disappointing on his chasing debut and has a lot to find.

DEFINITE RIDGE bounced back to form with a bang last time when taking a handicap chase at Cartmel and a 5lb rise shouldn't be an issue with plenty of his rivals out of form. Proud Gamble showed more on his most recent start at Perth in June and should be thereabouts, while King's Song has shown little of late but may well be perked up by a first-time visor.
DEFINITE RIDGE resumed winning ways on only his third start for Alexandra Dunn last month, and may be capable of better yet for the yard. He is taken to follow up at the main expense of the Rose Dobbin pair Proud Gamble and Donapollo.

BOURNE has regained the winning thread recently, backing up his 2m6f victory at Cartmel with a 2m7f success at Bangor. The 10-year-old is 7lb higher for the last of those victories but remains very well treated on his old form as he has won off 27lb higher in the past. Debt To Society scored with plenty in hand at Uttoxeter last time and could feasibly defy an 8lb rise in his current mood. Count Salazar is 5lb lower than when winning this contest 12 months ago and is another to consider.
BOURNE's renaissance won't last forever given his overall profile, but while he's in the mood, it seems sensible to stick with him. Lowcarr Motion is clear second choice.

BEAT THE TIDE is worth monitoring closely in the betting on his return to action as he is lightly raced and was twice placed off higher marks over 2m1f and an extended 2m3f last season. Bold Henmie has been raised 2lb for finishing second over the extended 2m here last time and is considered the main danger ahead of recent Cartmel fourth Astrum, for whom this step up in trip is expected to suit.
The Phil Kirby-trained BOLD HENMIE arrives in good form and is probably the most solid option. Beat The Tide has been freshened up since a lesser effort at Bangor in May and is sure to have his supporters under Richard Johnson, while Romulus du Donjon was out of sorts when last seen but has been cut a bit of slack by the handicapper and could be revived by a change of scenery.
