Fu Manchu was carried out at Uttoxeter last time but if running up to the form shown on his hurdling debut in September, he will not be far away. Purple Dancer was a fair maiden on the level and will not lack support on his hurdling bow, but preference is for DOUBLE ELLS. Ridden by Graham Lee, this full sister to winning hurdler Mrs Jodi has reportedly schooled well at home prior to this, her debut run, and she can score at the first attempt.
TOM FRUIT was a winner of a NH flat race and has since improved to win a race over hurdles and fences. No match for Huka Lodge at Carlisle last time, he can regain the winning thread here. Good Judgement was bitterly disappointing on his chasing bow at Wetherby last month, but he is sure to come on from that, his first run for 10 months. Moustique de L'Isle is a surefire future winner over fences and is another to consider.
Blairgowrie has won two of his four races so far over timber, staying on in determined fashion to score over 2m5f at Sedgefield back in April when last seen. He will have been well schooled over fences at home, but may have to play second fiddle to VON ORIGNY. Also a smart winner over timber at Bangor last time, he looks a really nice chaser in the making and can score at his first attempt over the larger obstacles.
Nathos arrives in good heart having been placed in each of his last three races and he makes plenty of appeal from an each-way perspective. WILD IS THE WIND had some fair form in the book over hurdles prior to a runaway 12 length romp over 2m1f at Carlisle last time. If in the same kind of mood here, he will take all the beating. Cottam Grange could represent good value, but the consistent Brooklyn Brownie looks a bigger threat.
Rainbow Tree landed a NH flat race on his debut but was unable to get his head in front over hurdles in seven starts. He probably ran his best race last time out and will not lack support on his chasing bow. AVADI is a maiden over hurdles and fences, but a repeat of his last run when chasing home Harris Bay at Towcester may well suffice. Pristeen Spy is the pick of the remainder.
Coach Lane will be a warm order if fully tuned up for his belated return to action. A beaten favourite in his last two races over timber, he is likely to be there or thereabouts at the finish. Iloveturtle has been pulled up in two recent starts following a lengthy break. At his best he could feature, but the vote goes to LYES GREEN. Beaten out of sight on his debut run over timber, he improved over 2m6f last time when runner-up to Denman at Wincanton and a slight improvement here could see him home in front.
LENNON looks another winner here for the Graham Lee/Howard Johnson combination. Twice a winner in NH flat company, he was soundly beaten in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in March, but should be good enough here to make a winning debut over hurdles. High Charter looks an interesting recruit from the Flat and could test the selection, while Hoh Viss is another capable of mounting a decent challenge.
