Trade Route's experience should help his chances and the son of Mastercraftsman could be on the premises today. Hajaam was an expensive purchase and has to be respected, while Mori Yoshinari is another interesting newcomer.

William Haggas' charge gives weight away all around but is the class act in the race and sets a stronger form standard than fellow break returner Convey. Last year's winner Grendisar has been below par this winter but first-time blinkers are fitted as he prepares himself for his 'cup final'. Battalion, one place ahead of the last-named when third in the Winter Derby Trial (with Mythical Madness fifth and Solar Deity sixth), has plenty to recommend him, while Absolute Blast is no forlorn hope for a place on debut for new connections, should this turn into a sprint finish. She fluffed the start at Wolverhampton last time but finished her race off with real purpose and continues on an upward trajectory.
