The first of the Western Cape juvenile races for the season and the usual suspects ie. Snaith and Marshall yards show their hands early. Both Captain Al colts, CAPTAIN SNELL and CAPTAINOFTHESEA, from the former's yard could go well on debut. JEPHTHAH appears the pick of the Marshall-trained trio on riding arrangements. Sean Tarry runs a coupling with Marcus on VARTANIUM. Watch!

CAPTAINOFTHESEA is quite interesting first time out in a weakish race and has a decent opportunity here by the looks of it. Captain Snell could give the selection most to think about having his first run, while Vartanium comes into calculations for minor honours first time out.

A case can be made for all. FELICITY FLYER caught the eye in a feature over shorter last time and on that evidence is preferred to ANIME who was outrun late in the same contest. The latter tries the trip for the first time but her mare was Grade 1 placed and a Grade 2 winner over 1600m. QUICK BROWN FOX is held in high regard and open to improvement. RED GINGER prefers further.

Good race. Admirable veterans TIGER TOPS and FRIENDLY TIBBS are capable at this level and should again give honest accounts of themselves. Consistent BENJAN is dangerous from a handy position and proven over the trip. GIMME ONE NIGHT and ONE DIRECTION are not without chances either. BIG PLEASURE and BIG PARADE make most appeal of the 3yo's, although the other pair have chances.

VINCENTE had shown improvement with the blinkers but has made further progress after gelding. He was rewarded for consistency when accounting for MASTER'S SPIRIT (1kg better for 0.40L) last time and could follow up. The latter should pose a threat once more. KINGSTON PASSAGE and stable companion VALBONNE have most scope and could be competitive. Others have earning potential.
