ALDERMOOR landed another masterful gamble for the Stuart Williams yard when profiting at Kempton last time and a 5lb rise is unlikely to prevent a follow up, from a good draw, considering he has won off significantly higher marks (albeit on turf) in the past. Drawn next door to the selection, Tax Break is open to more improvement on this surface and is feared most. Annes Rocket ran well over C&D last month and the booking of a useful apprentice negates the fact he is 1lb out of the weights.
Cootehill Lass has the luxury of running from a mark 5 lb lower than when a good second on turf last week but has to prove herself as effective on AW, something Aldermoor doesn't having landed a touch here last time. Elspeth's Boy is another to consider in what looks a strong race for the grade.

JOE STRUMMER improved for the step up to 1m2f at Nottingham, staying on into third, and shapes as if this even longer trip could elicit further improvement as he is racing off the same mark. A first-time visor may eke improvement from Corvette, who finished runner-up over C&D on her latest outing. Come On The Irons won't be found wanting for stamina but needs to transfer his turf form onto polytrack having run poorly on this surface previously. However, over this trip, he may be capable of better.

This looks a straightforward opportunity for SECRET EDGE to score following a narrow success at Goodwood in maiden handicap company last time. Richard Hughes keeps the ride aboard this son of Tobougg and a 4lb rise in the ratings doesn't appear beyond him. The lightly raced Rien Ne Vas Plus also commands respect, along with Fire Fighter and Compassion who represent the in form yards of Sir Mark Prescott and Michael Bell.
There shouldn't be much between Secret Edge and Compassion again, but Fire Fighter looks as if he still has more to give and can successfully concede weight all round.
