KELLYSTOWN LAD looks born for steeplechasing and is in good hands to make his mark over the larger obstacles. He revealed plenty of ability over hurdles and is preferred to Twentynineblack. The latter progressed steadily last season and delivered two comfortable success at Bangor and Cartmel. He will have been well schooled and much will depend on relative fitness levels. Saveiro and Indian Groom, both representing leading northern stables, cannot be discounted in an interesting novice chase
Indian Groom was the best of these over hurdles and is taken to make a winning start as a chaser, though Saveiro is the type who may fare better over the larger obstacles and could trouble.

The bumper career of Diamond MM did not proceed as smoothly as the Swinbank team would have hoped - she was beaten three times at short prices. Her Flat debut produced a midfield finish at Southwell and she may be best watched on her initiation into hurdling. SOPHONIE is an interesting recruit for the Ferdy Murphy operation and arrives from across the Channel with plenty of experience and solid form over both hurdles and fences to her name. This looks an excellent starting point, with Sara's Smile looking next best.
Ferdy Murphy has a good record with French imports, and already a winner over fences in her native land, Sophonie looks good to make a successful British debut. Diamond MM has a bit to prove after finding little on her latest start in a bumper, but could yet redeem herself over hurdles and may pose the main threat.

Not easy to unravel and whilst EMOTIVE is pretty exposed, he does have the virtues of turning up in good form and in prime fitness. He gets on well with his talented conditional and looks sure to give another solid account. Quinder Spring is of obvious interest after a stellar season in the pointing field last term and could be wonderfully well treated back in handicap company. Just For Men and Stagecoach Amber have place claims.
Quinder Spring may have failed to complete on his chase debut, but his point form suggests he's capable of winning handicaps off this sort of mark, and he can get the better of Primrose Time and the reliable Emotive.

SPARKLING ZOLA has not been seen since finishing second at Perth in midsummer but makes appeal if returning fit and well. He's gone well on both visits to this venue, scoring with plenty in hand last spring over this trip. Despite now being over a stone higher, he looks likely to deliver further improvement after just the nine runs over timber and gets the nod over Irish raider, the consistent Maolisa. Manoubi showed he's no back number last time despite advancing years and represents the most attractive each-way option.
Manoubi boasts the most persuasive claims on recent form and is preferred to Whatdoidowiththat, while potential-improver Catleen rates an each-way alternative.

Some interesting prospects take to the stage here but the Howard Johnson team is in good heart at present, which augurs well for the chances of MONOGRAM. The gelding ran out when reappearing at Perth last month but a repeat of his runner-up effort at Wetherby last season, following a debut bumper success at Kelso, puts him at the front of the queue. Bavard Court looks a live threat on his debut for Tim Vaughan after solid efforts in Ireland, whilst Oil Burner and Blenheim Brook both look to have a future.
Monogram possesses a fair bit of ability for all he ran out at Perth on his return last month, but the form pick is Bavard Court, who can also be expected to improve having joined Tim Vaughan. Oil Burner is another to note on his reappearance.

Lucinda Russell trained the winner of this race 12 months ago and appears to have another outstanding chance with RECKLESS VENTURE today. Both of the nine-year-old's career victories have come at this venue and he was unlucky to bump into a well-handicapped horse C&D last time. The softer the ground the better for him. Sierra Victor went down by the narrowest of margins over an extended 2m4f here latest and should go close once again, while Adrianeo ran well in first time cheekpieces (worn again today) at Perth most recently and is no forlorn hope.
Sketchy jumping is a trait often displayed by the whole field, and probably not a race to be getting heavily involved in, but Reckless Venture is more reliable than most and is a tentative choice to end his frustrating sequence. Sierra Victor looks next best.
