MECCA'S ANGEL was beaten three noses into fourth when making her racecourse debut at Thirsk last month and, with that outing expected to have brought her forward, she's well worth another look. Expect improvement from the daughter of Dark Angel and the form of that race has since taken a boost. Flying Bear shaped with promise on his first start at Kempton last month, while Overstep is likely to be better than his Nottingham introduction suggested.

CHINA EXCELS made all to land a similar handicap over a stiffer 5f at Beverley 10 days ago and, up 9lb for that win, should take all of the beating. The Exceed And Excel gelding takes a slight step up in class for this assignment, but he should be able to dictate from the front over this easier 5f trip and will be hard to peg back if doing so. C&D winner Indian Trail and Bath runner-up Baby Queen make most appeal of the remainder.

POSTSCRIPT has twice stayed on with purpose over 7f at Warwick and Catterick in recent times and David Simcock looks to have found him an opening now back up to 1m. C&D-winning form will stand him in good stead and, despite the burden of top weight, he might represent some value in the market. Basseterre also knows his way around here and cannot be overlooked, but Le Chat D'or can build on a respectable Hamilton fourth and he's feared most.

RESPONSE ran a blinder to finish within a length and a quarter of the more experienced Simply Elegant on his racecourse debut at Lingfield last month, an outing he's expected to have learnt plenty from. William Haggas' inmate is taken to break his duck if in a similar mood, but the Hamdan Al Maktoum pair, Estifzaaz and Qawaafy, are expected to be bang there at the business end if running up to their respective marks and they're not to be overlooked.
