Verdict

RENAISSANCE MAN is reportedly returning from an injury enforced layoff but made a promising debut on the poly last year and is the one to watch. He has drawn widest. HAYAT should win soon. He has run two good races on the turf and must be better than his one showing on this surface. He was gelded after that run and deserves another chance. KING'S SPEAR has gate one and after running close up seconds over the track and trip will have every chance. NAMAQUA DOVE is weighted to go well but hasn't been too convincing. First timer CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL is bred to be useful - watch.

Verdict

Highveld fillies BELTWAY and LADY OSIER, while limited, have secured two of the best starting stalls. BELTWAY made a form return in her second run after a rest and if taking to the poly can score. She did start her career off with promise. LADY OSIER shows good pace as well and having run well over a bit further could enjoy the surface. WINTER JOURNEY has run two good seconds on the poly beaten in close finishes and looks to have met a decent sort in Double Dream last time out. She can finally get it right. ADITI runs like the longer trip will suit and could be anything on the poly.

Verdict

Paul Peter trained GRAPHENE AEROGEL was supported on debut and quickly makes her KwaZulu-Natal debut. She is well bred being a Jackson filly out of a Jet Master mare and one that could have much more to come over the track and trip. MINSTREL GALLERY could be decent though and a hard nut to crack from gate two. She showed potential in a sprint and when given a try over a bit more ground challenged for the win at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. MIA LOA has become costly to follow but has precious experience over the course and distance and now has blinkers fitted.

Verdict

SEA MASTER overcame a wide draw and only went down 0.40-lengths to STRAIGHT UP when coming back to best last time. He now has draw one and a 1,5kg pull at the weights so can turn it around. But he is one that can misbehave. GRIMALDI is reliable and won a gutsy race the only time he raced here. He has drawn well again and can make a winning return. GIMME A STAR has shown promise and may have needed time to mature. If not needing the run he could threaten. STRAIGHT UP and LUCKY DANCER are dangerous on the poly and must be respected.

Verdict

LIVING WATERS has been unlucky and has drawn wide again. He ran a promising race after a rest and if building on that for top rider S'manga Khumalo can finally bag another win. But it is a wide open lower division handicap. DEEP GLOBAL produced best form to win easily last time but has been rested. If in the same mood can follow up. WALTON HALL was close up in stronger races and would be deserving. ATOMIC BLONDE has been running fair enough races in marathons on the Highveld and has secured a plum draw here. He could take advantage. Many can upset - go wide.

Verdict

Lightly raced RAIN OR SHINE went from beating a very weak field to beating a decent handicap field in just three starts. He has gone up in ratings but could still be up to the task. BURMESE TIARA needed time to mature and showed great resilience to beat a fair sort last time. She has run well on the poly previously. TIMBAVATI RIVER has also mixed it with top division sorts before and has done well enough to suggest there's more to come. But he may need it after a rest and has to overcome the widest berth. BLACKWHITEDYNAMITE can't be faulted here.
