Verdict

FIRE TONIC looks to be going the right way and should be the one. He ran a fair race on the Polytrack first time out and didn't mind the switch to turf, running second beaten a neck. ACTION TIME gave winner Caramel Fudge a hard time when much improved in his second start. He shows good pace and could be just as effective on the poly. ALFATORIO also improved in that race. He was a little under 5 lengths behind ACTION TIME but is well-bred and needs to be respected. UNCLE LUCKY disappointed after a fair run at this track. He may prefer this shorter distance.

Verdict

BARBATTI looks well placed and could win this Qualified Maiden. He did well from a wide draw on the poly a few starts back, then put in decent work on turf and was a good second when dropped in trip last time. L'ULTIMO disappointed as favourite in his penultimate and then tried racing from the front last time when he tired in the latter stages. He could suddenly show up back on this surface. BRAINWAVE ran a most encouraging race after showing little early on. He is bred to enjoy the longer distance. IZUIZORIZUAINT and EBONY BAY need to be considered for the Trifectas and Quartets.

CAESURA loves the poly, is in good form and looks well placed. He could notch up win No 9. ROYAL POINT is the dark horse. He suddenly figured it all out, won his maiden and could make a forward handicap debut too. BRANDENBURG spoils his chances by playing up at the start. Verdict

Competitive fillies and mares handicap. YOU DESERVE IT may be aptly named. She is holding form and could make it two from two over the course and distance. RISE is also knocking at door and even better is expected back on the poly. DANSE MILORD is the interesting runner. She showed some class earlier but seemed to have had issues. She found form last time and should appreciate the drop in distance. CHELSEA FLOWER is back on the synthetic and could be dangerous. WINTER'S DESTINY powered away to win for the second time in two starts and could complete a hat-trick. But she is 4kg worse off with both AREA FIFTY ONE and TOTO who also ran decent races. The latter had the widest draw then and could prove to be the bigger threat this time. WARSHIP impressed the last time she made the trip from the Highveld and now having drawn a lot better could add to her tally. Verdict

Another cracking handicap. Watch out for lightly raced RULERSHIP who caught the eye when he raced on the poly. He has another three months off and may have strengthened up. HOPE IS POWER showed something like his best form against stronger recently. He can go close but has to concede a wide gate again. VALIENTE quietly moved up the order to finish in the money - not a bad run considering he was running on the turf. Back on the poly and from a good gate he could threaten. Stablemate RENAISSANCE MAN is talented but fractious and may prefer racing with his companion.

Verdict

PRINCE VIHAAN won in good style and the handicapper thought so as his merit rating went up 6 points. But a 4kg claim should lighten the load and he can follow up even though taking on stronger. AL'S MY DADDY seems to be enjoying the poly over the turf and now drops in class. It could be the right recipe especially with a 1.5kg claim. IMMEASURABLE's last run is best ignored. He had all kinds of things go wrong and could run a much better race. PATRONAGE and BLACKWHITEDYNAMITE both have the ability to take it to the wire as well.
