Providing that experience has left no lasting scars, he can resume his forward momentum at the chief expense of Harry's Farewell, who has also arrived from between the flags and ploughed through the mud to win here before a satisfactory Exeter third. Cole Harden, yet another proven on rain-affected ground, is expected to build on his fourth on his recent jumping debut at this venue.

Buck's Bond will be interesting if he stands up, but a safer option is BOYFROMNOWHERE. Rebecca Curtis' gelding was deemed good enough for Grade 2 company over timber less than a year ago and two recent defeats over the bigger obstacles means he makes his handicap chase debut off a comparatively lenient figure. Alderluck and Pettifour have recent spins under their belts and stay all day, a remark that also applies to Emperor's Choice, although he hasn't been seen since the NH Chase at the Festival. Flying Award beat subsequent winner Victrix Gale in the 3m7f Highland National when last seen but usually needs a run or two to blow the cobwebs away.

Dolatulo bumped into a smart performer in Magnifique Etoile at Stratford and he may have to settle for a supporting role again because ORABORA chased home a couple of decent performers in a novices' event at Taunton in January and is expected to leave that behind now he tackles handicap company. Better was anticipated from Munsaab on his UK debut but he can't be written off just on the back of that Aintree defeat. Foxcub took his rivals apart over this C&D last month but the handicapper had caught up by the time he got to Cheltenham a fortnight later.

BENVOLIO made light of heavy conditions at Wincanton to win for the second time in as many months at the Somerset venue. Although he hasn't been seen since February, Paul Nicholls has his team firing on all cylinders and this winning pointer is expected to come into his own now he tries fences. Loose Chips was beaten a long way on his Plumpton return, and Rendl Beach only got as far as the second on his chase bow, so perhaps the chief threat is the selection's former stablemate Curtain Razer, who makes his debut for Chris Gordon.

WALTZING TORNADO's Southwell task was made easier by three of his four rivals failing to complete, but he could do no more than win as he did and as he wasn't that hard pressed, he can defy the six-day turnaround and the 7lb penalty. Absolute Shambles capitalised on his falling handicap mark by scoring at Worcester and over this C&D, but he is now 15lb higher than before the brace and is passed over in favour of SPANISH FORK. Sheena West's four-year-old isn't the quickest but he stuck to his guns for fourth over 3m2f at Huntingdon and can reward those who keep the faith after backing him into favouritism there. Miss Mayfair, Changing Lanes and Brunette'sonly are also worth consideration in a deceptively tricky affair.
