Channel Boy should be fitter after fading badly on his comeback and may be on the front on his own today. Preference, however, is for DRUM ROLL who arrives on the back of a sharp effort when a close-up second at this claiming level. He was almost eight lengths clear of the third Rivetto and that's the best line of form in here.
Absolute Paradise is at the top of her game right now and she's won back-to-back allowance events under today's rider. However, she may have to play second fiddle to SHANGALA, who has won all three starts at Finger Lakes since returning from a spell in New York. Based on her form, she's up to the rise in class. She hasn't raced since mid-June but has won fresh in the past.
Needle In The Hay is much improved since joining Daniel Conway and was game in victory over maidens. Robert Noble is a contender if fit after a six-month absence, but the vote goes to MCQUAID who had decent form at Belmont so was all the rage on his local debut. He ran poorly, fading tamely, but has since been gelded and may be worth another chance with that in mind and dropping in class.
Read The Technique, who comes off a good run in a better event, and Electric Currency, who is a threat from on or near the pace, are expected to go well, but maybe not as well as STONE ROCKS who was a decent fourth in an allowance event last time. Prior to that, he'd won back-to-back claimers. He's been freshened up and is dropped in class by the meet's leading trainer.
Little separated Quick Hall when he faced Tactical Pal and then The Frood Dude in back-to-back starts. They have to be considered but preference is for ACIGARISJUSTACIGAR. The selection ran second in a slightly better claimer last time and gets the vote now dropping to a career-low spot.
Our Pedroia ran second in a better claimer the last time he raced over six furlongs, while STAROFTHEMOUNTAIN been placed in back-to-back starts over a mile. He has enough speed to stay close enough dropping back to a sprint. He gets the vote over Muy Man, who contends with one of his better starts.
The nine-year-old Copper Forest showed he's no back number when winning last month but he may struggle against the likes of SIRTORI, who has run two nice races since joining his current yard. Based on his easy victory at the start of the month, he's a player here. He may have to hold off Cajun Best late on, after he found five and half furlongs on the short side when third in a similar event.
HORN BUCKLE has returned from a break in fine form, he beat Southern Rocket by over four lengths in early August and then ran second in a good event later in the month. Good Harbour has ground to find with Horn Buckle on that form but has claims, although may be used up in a duel with Laila's Jazz and Southern Rocket. Birds Gone Wild is interesting dropping back in trip.
FLASH TIPS has been in fine form since breaking his maiden tag here in July, he is unbeaten since that run after adding two further wins. Brad's Ruby looks the biggest danger following her good run here last month and she has solid record at Finger Lakes in this sort of grade. Marriedtomichael can round out the places.
