Mark Johnston has his string in excellent form and ES QUE LOVE can provide the North Yorkshire trainer with another winner. The son of Clodovil was a relatively cheap purchase at 22,000 guineas but he is a half-brother to first-time-out scorer Dominant and seems sure to be ready for his introductory outing. Bluebells Are Blue and Mr Majeika both showed promise first time out at Nottingham and Musselburgh respectively, with the latter feared most.
With Mark Johnston's 2-y-os hitting their stride, Es Que Love makes plenty of appeal on his debut, but Mr Majeika went with promise on his first run and can put that experience to good use. The market will help sort out the David Evans trio.

With Camerooney, Avon River and Fremen all prone to blazing a trail, this claiming contest could be run to suit UPHOLD. Jamie Osborne's lightly-raced gelding lost his way after recording back-to-back wins last year but there was a lot to like about his comeback run when beaten a short-head in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton last month. He could be suited by a strongly-run race over this trip and the headgear remains in place.
Having contested 2 really competitive handicaps this term Camerooney will find this a whole lot easier. Avon River, Fremen (winner of race last year) and Uphold are all capable of bustling him up.

An open-looking handicap but SHABAK HOM could be the one to side with. He failed to see out 1m4f here when last sighted in August but he drops back in trip for his seasonal return and he's only 3lb higher than when winning well over this C&D last July. Pelham Crescent also drops back in distance and he has fitness on his side having been in action on the all-weather. Hawaana, Pertuis and Rock The Stars are others in with a chance.
Hawaana had a valid excuse last time and, having come back down the weights, stands as good a chance as any in an open affair. Rock The Stars and Resplendent Light are also capable of bold bids.

Kempton winner Ceffyl Gwell could be worth another chance having seemingly failed to see out 7f last month but SHOSTAKOVICH makes slightly more appeal. He was running really well at Southwell over the winter and although unable to take advantage of his lower mark back on turf at Brighton last month, he met an unexposed rival there and is entitled to be sharper for the outing. Cristaliyev is also expected to mount a strong challenge.
Shostakovich showed he's as effective away from AW last time and looks the one to be with from his lower turf mark. Cristaliyev is the obvious threat.

SUPREME SPIRIT made good late headway after a tardy start when beaten three lengths on her seasonal bow over 5f last month and, entitled to strip fitter today and with the extra furlong to suit, the lightly-raced Ripon winner can regain the winning thread. The Jailer returned with a 5f success at Brighton but she is 6lb higher now and disappointed next time out after scoring on her reappearance last term, so recent Bath runner-up Talamahana is considered a bigger danger.
Supreme Spirit caught the eye when charging home on her return at Ripon last month and will be hard to beat back up to 6f. Basle and The Jailer can fight it out for the minor honours.

Beaver Patrol could be interesting if gifted a soft lead but preference is for the penalised TEWIN WOOD. He put a previously poor turf record firmly in the past with a gritty success at Yarmouth last month and a 3lb higher mark shouldn't prevent another bold bid this evening. Zebrano, a dual 1m winner at Kempton over the winter, made the frame in a competitive 1m handicap at Ripon last month a rates a serious threat, along with Yes Chef, who narrowly missed out off 1lb lower last time.
Zebrano improved on AW over the winter and looks poised to cash in on his lower turf mark having finished well in a race that wasn't run to suit at Ripon last time. Guilded Warrior and Beaver Patrol ought to strip fitter for their comebacks and shouldn't be far away.

Bocciani is a very interesting Flat debutant having been in excellent form over hurdles recently but he is likely to be popular and there could be some value in taking him on, possibly with MUSTAJED. Rod Millman's charge is back down to the mark off which he won a 1m2f Newbury handicap off 12 months ago, he's entitled to have come on for his recent reappearance run and has gone close over further to suggest this trip is no concern. Annelko and Olivino are not out of it.
It's probably unwise to look beyond Bocciani, who has been thriving over hurdles of late and is potentially thrown in back on the Flat. Mustajed and Annelko can fill the minor places.
