Vertueux gamely won a similar event at Market Rasen in December and he warrants plenty of respect off 8lb higher, but it might pay to side with the top-rated NEWORLD. He showed a liking for this track when winning a class 4 handicap three starts ago and subsequent struggles have come in better company. Down in class and with first-time cheekpieces equipped, he gets the vote to score. Henry Oliver might prove best of the remainder.
VERTUEUX brings recent winning form to the table which is more than can be said for the rest, so he gets a tentative vote in what is a hard race to call. Neworld is one to consider dropping in class, along with Henry Oliver.

McKenzie's Friend looked out of his depth in Grade 2 company at Warwick but can easily be given another chance in this lesser event, although whether or not he's good enough to beat WORK IN PROGRESS is another question. With a top rating of 135, Dan Skelton's charge is very well treated at these weights and he can bounce back from a slightly disappointing effort at Market Rasen last time. Raise A Spark wouldn't be without a chance if his jumping holds up.

MARDEN COURT gets the tentative vote in a muddling handicap. He certainly deserves a win following a string of nearly efforts and the application of first-time blinkers could be just what is needed. Kings Cross posted a fine effort off this mark at Ascot and should give another good account, while The Italian Yob cannot be ruled out either.
MARDEN COURT responded well to headgear when a good second at Wincanton last month and a similar performance can see him break his duck. Kings Cross was quickly back to form at Ascot last time and is another to consider along with The Italian Yob.

Just So Cool lost little in defeat when a head second at Uttoxeter and he should go close again providing this longer trip doesn't stretch his stamina too far, but MAJOR MILBORNE is the preferred choice. He only found subsequent winner Extreme Impact too good on his latest start over the extended 3m at Plumpton, and unlike the former, there are no concerns over his stamina. Doncaster third Roycano also has squeak.
Multiple-point winner ROYCANO has yet to taste success under Rules, but has offered a fair bit to work on both handicap starts in recent weeks, so he could well be the answer in this slightly easier race. Just So Cool is unexposed, so has to be feared if staying the trip, while the market will help assess the well-being of Hard To Swallow on his return.

POSTBRIDGE made a debut full of promise when chasing home the smart Potters Legend (subsequently placed in a Listed bumper) over this C&D and normal improvement should see her go one better today. Llantara wasn't beaten far on her introduction at Towcester and rates the biggest threat, while Focusing can improve on her debut ninth at Ludlow.
