Teahupoo obviously looks the one to beat as he is two from two. He was perhaps a touch lucky to beat Youmdor on his Irish debut here last month when that rival crashed out at the last. It was still a good effort though and given the way he galloped to the line he could well have beaten that rival anyway. The Masked Marvel gelding looks like he will appreciate further in time. It might be worth taking him on with the German import TAX FOR MAX. The Maxios colt was last seen running in Group 1 company in his native land and could make a smart hurdler. He cost 200,000 euros at the sales last November and has an entry in the Triumph Hurdle. Willie Mullins also introduces Farout, a handicap winner in France.

PETIT MOUCHOIR looks nicely treated at these weights and the veteran may be able to record his first victory since October 2017. He showed that he still retains plenty of ability when third for his new connections in Grade 1 company at Leopardstown over Christmas and, while he weakened tamely enough in the Irish Champion Hurdle last time, this is a significantly easier task. Jason The Militant has to give weight away to all his rivals but is probably a little less exposed. He ran a cracker when third in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown, when last seen in November, and has to be respected on that showing. Darasso is fitted with blinkers for the first time but this might be sharp enough for him.

BREAKEVEN has been knocking on the door and might be able to make the breakthrough over hurdles here. The former point-to-pointer won a bumper over 2m4f but was a touch keen over a similar trip over hurdles at Naas last month, so might be worth a shot over shorter again now. Johngus lost out in a good finish at Gowran last month and is rated just 1lb lower than the selection. Rachael Blackmore is an eye-catching booking and he has to be a leading contender. The Gordon Elliott-trained Stranger Danger was no match for Eurotiep on his hurdling debut at Thurles last month but is entitled to come on a bit for that experience. Promising conditional Jordan Gainford takes a useful 7lb off his back.

Burrows Saint looks the pick of Willie Mullins' pair on jockey bookings and better is expected after two moderate runs over hurdles this season. At his best he'd be the one to beat at these weights, but it would be a bit of a leap of faith to row in with him after his showings this term. Stablemate ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS won this last year and may be able to follow up. He has run well on his two outings this term and it was a solid effort to finish fifth in the competitive Thyestes Chase at Gowran last time. He has to give weight away to his rivals but at least comes into the race in some kind of form. Anibale Fly ran well off a lower mark over timber at Naas last time but needs to step up on his recent showings over fences.

Cushinstown Finest finished a well-held third on Thursday at Thurles and perhaps this is best left to Joseph O'Brien, who saddles both CHOUNGAYA and High Sparrow. It's hard to argue that anything arrives here in better order than the former, as he does so on the back of a win achieved at this venue 19 days ago. That extended 2m5f contest turned into a sprint, which likely wouldn't suit the selection as he stays well. To that end, going up in trip looks good for him. Macgiloney was dining at the top table last time but would most probably benefit from better ground more than anything else. Key Commander was good at Thurles before Christmas. He was underwhelming back at the County Tipperary venue since. However, this fellow is still only a six-year-old and, as stamina appears to be his strong suit, this assignment ought to play to his strengths.

No less than six of these are back over hurdles having competed in chases last time. It'd be nice to see Foxy Jacks get back on track with things having gone pretty badly awry for him over the larger obstacles. The Fame And Glory gelding has the ability to have a major say and, as a seven-year-old, time is still on his side. Run in commemoration of local legend Tommy Carberry, looking towards the Meath handlers might not be a bad idea, and something like the Milan mare RHYTHM DIVINE catches the eye. Other Royal County runners Campeador, Thereisnodoubt, Elwood and Thunderosa are respected, but Thomas Gibney's charge gets the nod. We haven't seen Darragh O'Keeffe's mount since October, and it could be that this has been earmarked as a target for some time. Confidence is buoyed by the fact that Gibney's horses are in cracking order.

Charles Byrnes' six-month ban is due to come into effect from early next month (March 4th) over the Viking Hoard affair. He could be keen to make hay before that and MISTER BUTLER is surely capable of at least showing up well for him here. The selection is rated 100 over fences and 91 at this game. All seems set for a big run from the Presenting gelding then, on his fourth start since returning to the fold for the Limerick trainer. He's a long way removed from his dam, Cailin Alainn, as she won eight for Byrnes, including twice at Grade One level. However, he's capable of getting the job done, and hopefully the going doesn't prove too testing for him now. A few others boast at least place claims. It doesn't take too flowery an imagination to envisage the mares Goulane Jessie and Grey Habit having their say.

They've been trying to get GLENGOULY on the track for a while now, intended engagements at the likes of Limerick in recent times being scuppered by the weather. Point-to-point winner Glengouly is by Coastal Path, and that stallion has already served Willie Mullins well with the likes of Bacardys, Saint Roi, Franco De Port and Asterion Forlonge. Many a decent horse has passed between the Pat Doyle academy and Closutton, including Bacardys and Asterion Forlonge, and it'll be no great surprise if Glengouly follows on in a similar manner. Stuart Crawford has two, Donaire and O'Toole, and they are respected along with the likes of Captain Planet, Gracchus De Balme, Oscar West, Part Time Farmer and Prevaricate.
