EAGLE'S QUEST, who had a couple of these behind when runner-up at Gowran Park, can gain a first success. The Mags Mullins-trained gelding also shaped with promise on his previous start when sixth in a big field at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. With an official rating of 115, the six-year-old sets a fair standard in a race of this nature. All Night Revival, who was fourth in that Gowran race, has to be respected. Having finished runner-up between the flags and in a bumper, he made a promising start to his career over flights. Point-to-point winner Simply Natural is not one to dismiss lightly on her hurdling debut.
A few of these re-oppose having contested a decent maiden at Gowran and they could have the race between them. Eagle's Quest did best that day but he did have an experience edge and was better placed in a race that was dominated from the front. ALL NIGHT REVIVAL finished well from an unpromising position on what was his first start over hurdles and is expected to improve significantly for the outing. His point and bumper form suggests that he should be capable of much better and he gets the verdict. Fabhcun was a place behind the selection and is also likely capable of better for a top yard so isn't ruled out either.

SOPELANA can defy her big weight to register a fourth win over hurdles. Although last of seven in a 2m4f Listed race at Navan earlier this month, the Cian Collins-trained filly ran better than that bare form suggests. Hampered early on, she made good progress to briefly go third approaching the final flight before her stamina limitations were exposed. Back at this trip, she will find the opposition easier and should also appreciate the sharper track. Mode Avion, who finished third to the selection at Punchestown in November, has every chance at these weights. Whats New has the ability to win over hurdles if first-time cheekpieces can bring about further improvement.
WHATS NEW proved consistent when completing in maidens and is open to progress now handicapping in first time cheekpieces. His opening mark looks lenient and he can take advantage at the expense of Mode Avion who progressed in maidens proving himself on heavy ground in the process. He's open to further improvement for his top yard and the French bumper winner can throw down the main challenge ahead of the experienced Sopelana who was outclassed at Listed level last time but should find this more suitable.

SPORTINTHEPARK looks well treated reverting to hurdles. A winner in this sphere at Galway in October, the Noel Meade-trained gelding was subsequently raised 6lb to 126. Although very disappointing over fences in the Troytown at Navan last time, the ground was very testing and, 8lb lower in this sphere, he can get his career back on track. Billy Lee Swagger, who made most when scoring at this venue, has to hold every chance. The hat-trick seeking Our Uncle Jack steps up in trip, but has to be respected given his rich vein of form.
SPORTINTHEPARK failed to stay 3m in the Troytown when last seen but his last hurdles win looks strong form and a 6lb rise looks lenient. He's proven versatile ground wise and dropped back to his optimum distance is fancied to get the better of in form Linden Arden who was probably a bit fortunate to win last time due to a late faller. Of those at bigger prices Fad Eadrainn makes some minor appeal judged on his victory here in the autumn where he had a couple of Graded winners in behind. He is erratic but is on a dangerous mark if bringing his best.

Despite being raised 12lb for an emphatic win at Naas, RUN FOR COVER is taken to complete the hat-trick. Having opened her account here on her previous start, the seven-year-old adopted similar front-running tactics at the County Kildare track. As that latest race was confined to conditionals, her rider Conor Brassil was unable to claim. Now taking 3lb off, that does at least ease her burden somewhat. Blow Wind Blow has to be a leading contender on his handicap debut. An easy winner at Thurles, the Enda Bolger-trained gelding could be well treated. Shanroe Act is another with every chance in quite a competitive affair.
An open race can go to BLOW WIND BLOW who was a cosy winner when upped in trip last time and looks to have been let off lightly with a 6lb rise ahead of his handicap debut. He's open to plenty of further progress for his top connections and has produced his best efforts to date on heavy ground. All of these hold Grand National entries and the last two renewals have been won by horses who followed up in the big race at Aintree. Having shown signs of life over hurdles at Gowran last time, a chance is taken that GERRI COLOMBE retains enough ability to land this prize. A five-time Grade 1 winner and second in the 2024 Gold Cup, the 10-year-old missed a year through injury and will have benefited from his first completed start of the season. Jack Kennedy prefers Three Card Brag to the selection and his mount has been in fine form in handicaps, while last year's Grand National third Grangeclare West is the stable-selected from Willie Mullins' quartet.
The forecast heavy ground is a slight concern for GRANGECLARE WEST but it is notable that he is the choice of Paul Townend from the Willie Mullins battalion. The trainer often uses this a prep for the Grand National with his leading hope and this year looks no different. The Grade 1 winner gets weight from a few of his rivals and could have too much class. Gerri Colombe was certainly as good as the selection before his injury lay off winning 5 times at the top level. He hinted that he retained his ability over hurdles last time and could prove the main danger if building on that. Spanish Harlem would've won the Thyestes last time but for a last fence blunder so is also respected along with Scottish National winning stablemate Captain Cody who went off favourite for the contest at Gowran but failed to complete.

Three of these were easy winners last time out and it will be a surprise if one of the trio doesn't emerge victorious. NELSON COUNTY, a winning three-miler over hurdles, made short work of his rivals at this venue last month on just his second start over fences. From the family of Irish Grand National winner Our Duke, he may improve for this step up in trip and more testing ground is unlikely to be a negative for him. On his first completed start over fences, Rokathir came home clear over 3m at Navan and looks a leading player despite a 15lb rise in his rating, while ready Punchestown winner Showurappreciation is another for the shortlist.
ROKATHIR looks the obvious choice here after an impressive chase victory last time where he never came off the bridle. He may be unbeaten in this discipline if not for a late fall on his chase debut and he can defy a 15lb rise with conditions in his favour. Showurappreciation was another easy winner last time and looks a big player despite a 10lb rise. He's also proven on heavy ground but he is yet to convince with his stamina for 3m or further. Nelson County didn't beat all that much at this venue last time but he had plenty in hand and his hurdles form suggests he'll relish this extra distance. He should also be thereabouts at the finish on his handicap debut.

A low weight will be an advantage in the conditions for NOTIMELIKEDPRESENT, who shaped with some promise in his first handicap chase at Tramore. He kept on without landing a blow on that occasion and this extra two furlongs, along with the addition of a tongue-tie, might produce an improved performance. Duce Bigalow was clear of the remainder when runner-up over 3m at Navan and has a top conditional on board. Aines Lad has improved over timber lately and runs off his revised hurdles rating on this chase debut. One Horse Army won over a longer trip here last year and showed a bit of spark over hurdles two starts back.
Aine's Lad is likely to be popular on his chase debut following an impressive hurdles victory last time. A 9lb rise looks fair and 3m on testing ground are his optimum conditions. However top weight JERK catches the eye as potentially very well treated. His latest run is best ignored as he didn't handle the track and the ground was far too quick for him but he shaped with plenty of promise on his reappearance before that. Given his best hurdles form came over 3m on easy ground further improvement can be expected now handicapping and he looks worth chancing. Decimation is another who likes plenty of give in the ground and though he's ultimately proven frustrating he's returned to form on his last couple of starts and can fight for a place.

A 45,000-euro purchase at three, LOOK ME handled testing conditions well when narrowly beaten in a valuable sales bumper here last April. The form of that race has taken a few knocks in the interim but the five-year-old, by the same sire as Kargese, is still taken to make a winning start for Willie Mullins having been in the care of Stuart Crawford last term. Point-to-point winner Detroit Maverick was second to a Mullins inmate on Rules debut here last month and is the obvious danger, but the champion trainer will have had a guide as to what is required to defeat that rival. A fair fifth at Navan, Thenavvybank may prove best of the rest.
Though LOOK ME has a long absence to overcome he sets the standard on ratings and his fitness is taken on trust given his top stable. His debut runner up effort at this venue has been boosted in a Grade 3 over hurdles and his point victory suggests he should have more to offer. Another point winner Detroit Maverick was only out-battled late by a more experienced rival here on his rules debut and he looks the obvious danger with improvement expected for a leading yard. Thenavvybank was far from disgraced in what looked a hot contest first time out and a repeat of that could see him complete the tricast.
