It will be interesting to see what the market makes of Smiler on his return from 240 days off the track as he hacked up by 16 lengths in a bumper here in October. Preference, however, is for SEISMIC, who has the benefit of recent match practice under his belt and makes lots of appeal on his hurdling bow after landing a double on the Flat last month. Brian's Express took a forward step at Kilbeggan, while Oscar Vespasian, although exposed, has place claims on the pick of his form.

Watch out for: Smiler (1)

Not a strong maiden hurdle and the vote goes to Smiler who landed a bumper here in October, and has gone well fresh before. Seismic may prove the biggest danger on hurdling debut for Gordon Elliott, just ahead of Brian's Express.

HILDEN appears to be on good terms with herself at present and dotted up by six lengths here last time out. The assessor has handed her a 6lb rise but she remains the one to beat after scoring with such authority. Pennys Tune has finished runner-up in maiden company the last twice and is interesting now moving back into a handicap, while this slightly longer trip could also suit recent Clonmel second Emmy Lou.

Abu Nayef was fourth off this mark on his handicap debut at Ballinrobe and needs to raise his game a notch if he is to trouble the principals. Preference is for BENEFITTHEWEST, who kept on well for pressure to score over 2m at Tramore and may appreciate this slight step up in trip as she bids to defy a subsequent 7lb rise. A big run from Hilden earlier on the card would boost the claims of House Limit, who chased her home here latest.

Benefitthewest is the obvious starting point following her victory at Tramore, but the vote goes to Imperial Joey who ran well off a higher chase mark at Ballinrobe last time. Thomond was beaten by 37 lengths when fourth at Wexford last time but is entitled to improve for this step up in trip. It may, however, be worth siding with TOTALLY COUTURE instead. Gordon Elliott's six-year-old ran well for a long way over 2m7f here until fading on the run-in, so this drop in distance could be ideal. Mighty Whitey landed a selling hurdle at Hexham and is worth a market check now debuting over fences.

A mark of 114 is not beyond Noel Glynn's representative but, over this shorter trip, preference is for HERO DE VILLENEUVE, who landed a chase double at Bangor before running below-par over timber at Down Royal. Course winner Back Off Mate is worth considering, too, now back over fences after a spell hurdling.

Hero de Villeneuve looks the one to beat back in this sphere, but it could be worth siding with Gonebeyondrecall who landed a hunter chase at Listowel recently. EASY VIC bounced back to form when suffering a half-length hurdles defeat over 3m at Punchestown last month and is weighted to go close now reverting to fences off a 15lb lower rating than his revised timber figure. Fennis Moll failed to justify favouritism at Tramore when third over 2m6f but may improve for this extra furlong and she's nominated as the main danger ahead of The Baler, who just failed between the flags most recently.
