Ardlui opened his hurdles account when scoring at Newbury in December and warrants respect despite his penalty but, in receipt of 7lb from the first-named, BLACK POND is preferred. The selection was easy to back on his hurdling bow and first start for Nicky Henderson at Warwick last month but finished his race off nicely, shaping as if he'd be all the wiser for the experience gained that day. Eagle Rock has landed the silver medal on all three starts over timber to date and is unlikely to be far away again.
Ardlui returns from a short break with his yard in fine form and can boost its juvenile hand still further by adding to December's Newbury success. Eagle Rock and Blue Destination are a couple of others who look sure to go well.

Aikman failed to build upon two promising chase outings when disappointing in handicap company at Newcastle last time but is capable of making his presence felt here if rejuvenated by a three month break. Preference, however, is for QUENTIN COLLONGES, who was returning from a lengthy absence when an encouraging second at Leicester latest and is expected to relish the return to this flat track. The Cockney Mackem, a staying on second over 2m3f latest, is also respected now up in trip.
Quentin Collonges shaped well on his comeback outing at Leicester and a reproduction of that form may suffice here. Aikman didn't set the world alight over fences in the autumn but should be capable of better at some stage judged on his hurdles form and could be the one for the forecast.

Special Catch, a bumper winner at Catterick latest, is respected on his hurdles bow while The Weatherman, who scored comfortably in a minor event at Sedgefield latest, cannot be left out of calculations either.
Oscar Nominee didn't seem to cope with the mud in a Grade 2 at Haydock last time, but he's the clear pick on his wide-margin Southwell success prior to that. Sedgefield-scorer The Weatherman and Friday's improved Newbury fourth Presenting Ace can fight out minor honours.

Atouchbetweenacara has dropped to a workable mark and is effective on a sound surface but it might be worth chancing the return to this track can spark a return to form for dual course winner WOGAN. The selection has pulled up on both previous runs for new trainer Tom Symonds but is now 10lb lower when winning the Grimthorpe here in 2010 for Nicky Henderson. Mark The Book, raised 7lb for his heavy ground win at Chepstow, is also considered.
Faasel has to put a lacklustre reappearance behind him but he usually keeps better company than this and can put an end to his losing run. Mark The Book would possibly prefer more testing conditions but is still much respected given his current form.

Storm Survivor responded well to the fitting of a visor when returning an easy winner at Plumpton last month but having been raised a stone in the handicap subsequently, preference is instead for DISTIME. The selection looked outpaced on his handicap bow at Catterick last time but looks worth a try over this longer trip and sees Dougie Costello return in the saddle in place of a conditional rider. Lucinda Russell has her string in good order at present so Devotion To Duty is another to consider.
Distime is open to improvement now tackling 3m, and he makes most appeal in a competitive race. Dawn Commander is another who will appreciate the trip, and is worthy of consideration along with Corkage, who has looked a reformed character this season.

LORIKARAD boasts a good record between the flags and made the perfect start to his career under Rules when landing the spoils with an assured round of jumping at Towcester last month. There should be more to come from the promising 8-y-o and he is fancied to win again. Winterwood showed fair form in handicap chases last term and is respected with a couple of recent spins between the flags under his belt to sharpen up his fitness while Rathcor is upped in trip but cannot be ruled out.
