Ovechkin was well beaten on his debut after being bumped at the start but should get a lot closer today while I'm A Slugger and Regal Solo look a couple of useful newcomers who could give good accounts of themselves. STICK PONI stumbled at the start last time and ended up a distant sixth but before that was only beaten a head in tougher company over four and a half furlongs at Pimlico. The most experienced of these, he looks the one to beat tonight.
This should go to STRANGE ENCOUNTER, whose two wins this year have come in a $32k allowance race at Pimlico and a $15k claimer at Laurel Park. This looks much easier and he's difficult to oppose. Go Dancing Go also drops in class but looks to have something to find here and Gem's Wager, a very easy winner in this grade last time, looks the one for the exacta.
Forest Bump looks a progressive colt but may have something to find in this company while Whats Next Mon takes a big drop in class here but isn't the most reliable. Preference is for FALMOUTH, who has twice gone close in $10k maiden claimer here and looks open to some further improvement.
It's difficult to oppose the claims of PRIVATE DIVA here. She was a good third in a $28k allowance race at Charles Town last time and before that ran up a hat trick, including two similar contests to this. She should prove far too good tonight. Pam d'Monia, who has been running well in better races recently, looks the danger while Mistadance, a winner of a slightly tougher race over C&D last time has sound claims if that wasn't a flash in the pan.
Merchandise, You Talkin Bout Me and Mambo Moon have been running well in similar company and should be thereabouts tonight but it's worth taking a chance on CAMDEN. Henry Walters' charge is in cracking form at present and won a slightly-weaker race over this trip at Pimlico this month. He should have the edge over his rivals on recent efforts.
SONOTAS SECRET was beaten a neck in this grade two starts ago and was second again in a tougher race last time. Those two runs were over a mile here but she's equally at home in sprints and looks the one to beat tonight. On The Rail is on a hat trick and All In With Aces scored last time out but they were lesser contests and they look to be playing for place money here.
Although beaten in a Grade 3 last time, Fleet Valid won four of his five starts before that, while Master Of Disaster landed a $65k three starts ago over a route. Preference, however, is for HIGH BLITZ, beaten in a $100k race last time but twice a winner of $65k contests over this trip at Monmouth Park before that and with form in better races than this.
Miss Tizzynow won a $55k race last time out, with New Edition a nose second. They should be thereabouts tonight while Dinner Break won a $100k race back in February and holds sound claims if recapturing that form. It's worth taking a chance, however, on CHANGEISGONNACOME, just beaten into second over five and a half furlongs at Monmouth last time but placed in Grade 2 company over 7f at Belmont Park before that and likely to be suited by this trip.
LORD SNOWDON finished a close fourth in a stronger contest at Belmont Park last time out and is fancied to come out on top in this line-up. The selection obliged in a similar contest here on his penultimate start and is preferred to Oswyn, who had Casual behind when runner-up here latest.
DREAMM DIVA has been knocking on the door in recent starts and is fancied to gain her first career success despite taking a step up in class. Abra Caadabra was not disgraced in a stronger race here last time but has failed at this level before and might have to be content with a supporting role this afternoon. Any market support for the newcomers should be heeded.
