HARDTOBETHEBEST finished second in a similar contest over C&D last month. Timothy Hooper claimed him out of Scott Lake's barn after that effort and he could bring out more improvement in him here. Dashing Deputy looks the main danger on the evidence of his win here last week, while Jeremy Rose partners Survivor Kipper and they are respected.
YODEL DALE was well beaten over the extended 1m at Pimlico in May. That was his first start for the Liz Merryman barn and the drop down to 6f here will suit. Rebel Prince makes his debut for the Scott Lake team and is open to improve on his third career start, while Rough Cut Gem and See Greeley look likely to be fighting it out for third place.
PERFECT SELECTION is seeking the hat trick here in the hands of Joseph Rocco. Both of her victories have come at this track and she looks sure to land her third career success today. Lillybabe will do her best to stop the selection but she has not raced for more than two months, while Uboughtwhat drops down in grade after being outclassed and can't be ignored.
Anna Napravnik is in fine form at present and she rides KIBO for the Mark Schuman barn here. He has failed to make the money in his six career starts but improved on his first run for his current connections latest. Hitthedancefloor is likely to provide the main challenge, while Secret Passion finished second in a tougher contest latest and can't be ruled out here despite the drop back to 6f.
The race could well be run to suit CITICHURCH, who has a prime position next to the rail. Her early speed stands her in good stead as those up amongst the action early have a good record over this sprint trip. La Chica Rica was successful in a better event latest but her wide draw is a concern.
Having consistently impressed at a similar level to this, LIGHTNING ROMANCE is taken to gain the first success of his career. He was only beaten a head on his return to action last time, is fully entitled to improve on that effort and Michael Matz's runners are always of interest when shipping in from other tracks. Stealth Strike could improve on his debut and can chase home the selection.
MINT LANDING had the consistent Slew Proud in behind last time and both come here with chances. The form is expected to be upheld however with the latter having several lengths to make up on the selection. Anthony Dutrow's representative is better than this level at his best and is expected to show his class. Mt. Ida is the main danger.
At his best PISGAH is well able in this sort of grade and a promising workout last week suggests he may be coming back into form. Scott Lake's runner was in behind Max West and Yankee Wildcat last time but still ran creditably and is selected to make amends for that 2l defeat. The two mentioned have to be considered, as does Weigelia who is sure to be closing late in the day.
