TOMMYLEECAT represents the in-form trainer in Ann Merryman. Her gelding was eighth over the extended 5f on turf here last month and is open to improvement on his second start since a break. Robert Bailes has two runners in Absolute and Summerland. The latter looks the strongest after landing a better contest over 1m here last month, while the former is eligible to improve on his fourth start of the campaign.
MISS STACK finished second in a tougher contest on her first start for the Catherine Robinson barn. Her trainer has a 38 per cent strike rate with her runners on their second start for her and she can extend that record here. Jackpot Run will have to overcome the outside draw in the hands of Luis Garcia but can't be ruled out, while Top Time arrives on the back of a success over 6f here last month and can go close.
Put Step On It drops down to 6f here after finishing fourth over 1m on turf latest. The return to dirt may bring out some improvement but he may still find a couple too good. Luis Garcia has opted to ride HIS NAME WAS RICO over the former and he finished third in a better race on his debut run a Pimlico in April. He looks the one to beat here, while Jet Spin can go close on his return to a sprint and has blinkers added for the first time today.
CLASS VANTAGE was a well beaten third in a much better contest latest. He has won a hurdle race so is capable of winning and this looks a good opportunity for him to land the spoils. Mark The Shark has won three hurdle races and can go close for the Jack Fisher barn despite an absence of 49 days, while Patterson steps up to a route distance for the first time after finishing third in a similar event over 5f latest.
CHIEF COMMANDER is likely to go off favourite here despite not running since March. He makes his debut for the Daniel Smithwick barn and is certainly capable of landing this if not in the need of the run. Mr Song And Dance finished second in a similar event over C&D latest and has strong place claims again, while Sport Coat is open to improvement on his fourth start since a layoff.
Jonathan Sheppard's PREP SCHOOL looks capable of landing this in the hands of the in-form Chris Vanhassel. He has recorded the highest speed at this distance from today's runners. Starpoleon represents Ferris Allen and arrives on the back of a win at Delaware Park, while Highland Bowl was placed first after the winner was disqualified for bumping him in a race here latest. He is respected in this event.
BINDLOE was the fastest last time out when going very close, ahead of Miss Chestervalley, on her turf debut over 5f and is expected to come on for that experience. She rates the selection but should face stiff competition from Papa Sids Girl, who lowers her sights today. Silverdollardella opened her grass account here recently and looks ready for the step up in class.
Another bold bid could be on the cards from Rumbling Girl after she found one too good on her seasonal debut and she has won on turf, while Stormin Wife is expected to go well on her first outing on grass after impressing on dirt this year. ITS JUST A DREAM just missed out in a similar event at Pimlico latest and is still improving - he can get it right today.
Donald Barr looks to have found a good opportunity for TROUBLE MAKER. She filled the runner-up berth on both starts so far, including when easily the fastest last time out here, and the progressive filly wouldn't have to find much to make it third time lucky today. After finding 7.5f too far latest, Trusten returns to the trip over which she went very close last month and looks the best of the remainder.
