Despite being unfavourably drawn, SILVER CREST can open his account at the fourth attempt. He was a good third over today's C&D on his penultimate outing behind the classy River Kintyre, and was not disgraced in a listed event last time. Miss Lovat improved on her debut at this track to finish fourth to the useful Choysia, and hails from a stable that does well here. Smart Pick showed enough when runner-up at Catterick last time to suggest there is a small race to be won with her.
SERIEUX returned to winning ways after being given an enterprising ride at Thirsk two weeks ago. Front running tactics paid dividends that day and a similar ride from a good draw should see him go close. Les Arcs got the run of the race when victorious at Musselburgh last time, and the likely good pace in today's race will suit him well. Doohulla looked to be nearing top form with an encoraging fourth at Doncaster last week, and should be winning shortly.
GALLANTIAN improved on previous efforts to land a juvenile maiden race on the polytrack last November. He looks the type to improve this term and is a tentative choice in an open looking contest. Courageously was a beaten favourite last time, but this 1m winner is likely to appreciate today's step up in trip. Barbirolli was not disgraced in a good maiden last time, and should improve to land a race of this type before much longer.
WHINHILL HOUSE is in the form of his life, winning three times last month. He was an unlucky runner-up last time, and is a hopeful choice to overcome a poor draw this evening. Plateau was not disgraced behind stable-companion Fire Up The Band at Epsom last Saturday, and is closely matched with Treasure Cay on that running. Handsome Cross was just touched off last time, and is sure to be winning in the not too distant future.
TROUBLE MOUNTAIN is gradually coming to hand, as he showed with a promising second to the easy winner Jake Black last time. He is a tough and genuine performer and should be in the shake-up tonight. Blue Patrick, like his trainer, has been in terrific form this season, but didn't enjoy the best of runs when a beaten favourite last time. The 3yo Bravemore is a decent performer and could spring a surprise against his elders in this event.
Nina Carberry takes the ride on TEDSTALE in a race that she just failed to win last season. The selection ran his best race for some time when fourth to Double Vodka at Ayr last time, and is a confident choice this evening. Lennel was fourth in the corresponding race last season, but has the benefit of a more experienced rider this time. Zaffeu's last victory came in this type of event, so is certainly worth some consideration.
