Some decent novices on display for the time of year, but EVELITH ECHO gets the vote. He looked to be crying out for this trip or even further when running consistently well over two miles earlier in the season and can be forgiven his latest flop in one of the hottest novice contests of the season. Connak made a real impression last time but meets smarter opposition this time, for example Crescent Island who has improved all season and split two smart performers when second at Cheltenham last week.

CERIUM has been a grand servant to connections, but has struggled with his high handicap mark this season. The decision to drop him into claiming company has presented him with what looks an easy opportunity to regain winning ways and it will be a serious disappointment if he can't take advantage. NEMETAN has really hit form since the turn of the year and can take advantage of a lenient-looking handicap mark to make a winning return to hurdles. Although he ran slightly disappointingly here last November, he has improved since and there was plenty to like about the way he battled for victory at Kempton last time. Wild Tonto has barely run two races alike this season, but definitely has the ability to make a challenge, while Bobby Donald seems to handle testing conditions and is going the right way.

Chesnut Annie and Lady Myfanwy have both been in flying form between the flags and deserve considerable respect. Royal Rationale holds an obvious form claim, having turned in creditable efforts in four of his five starts over hurdles.
