DARRIAS returned to winning ways when beating the highly regarded newcomer Masafi at Huntingdon earlier in the month. That was a useful effort given the fact he was conceding 8lb to his rival, and he should have no problem following up today. Irish raider Classic Approach won a bumper and a maiden hurdle in September, but was very disappointing behind Ballygran last time. Market Rasen winner Lago D'Oro looks booked for third spot.
TUESDAY'S CHILD can find the necessary improvement to make a successful chasing debut. He showed definite promise over hurdles and this Un Desperado gelding will be suited by the step up in trip this afternoon. Darnayson is another who will almost certainly improve for a switch to fences, and he too showed ability in bumpers and over hurdles. Mon Mome also makes his chasing bow and is another who can improve for the switch.
Previous C&D winner CHOCKDEE is taken to make a winning return to action. Things will need to pan out just right for him, but he has plenty of talent when in the mood and has a promising claimer on board to assist. Cantgeton finished a creditable third to the well handicapped Mouseski at Chepstow last time, and should be in the thick of things this afternoon. Calatagan won this last year and has been successful on the Flat during the summer.
The lightly-raced ZETA'S RIVER is taken to fulfil the immense promise he showed last season. He won a good handicap at Newbury in March, and went on to show improved form in defeat before a slipping saddle put paid to any chance he had in the Betfred Gold Cup at Sandown in April. Sweet Diversion is 8lb better off for a 4 length beating by the much touted Iris's Gift at Market Rasen, but Jonjo O'Neill's charge is taken to confirm his superiority and chase home the selection this afternoon.
Portavadie had Fandani 2 lengths away in third spot when chasing home the impressive Natal at Stratford back in May. They reoppose on similar terms today, but both may have to play second fiddle to Natal's stablemate EARTH MAN. The selection is 8lbs better off for a 4 length beating by Fandani at Wincanton, which should sway things in his favour this time. Smart Boy Prince continues on the upgrade and deserves more than a second glance.
BIG ROB developed into a useful novice last term, and is taken to make a winning reappearance. Twice a winner last winter, he was still in with a shout when taking a fall four out at the Cheltenham Festival on his final outing, and there should be much more to come this season. Tamango has enjoyed a fruitful summer campaign but has gone up in the weights as a result, whilst Indien Royal is another who is sure to win his fair share this season.
DREAM ALLIANCE ran well over an inadequate trip on his debut behind Inaro at Newbury last November, and is sure to appreciate the extra half mile today. Tokala looked useful when making a winning debut at Worcester in May, but would not want to see any deterioration in conditions this afternoon. Nigel Twiston-Davies introduces newcomers Dopey Bob and Night Safe, and with a good conditional jockey on board any move for the latter should be noted.
