SWASHBUCKLE had some decent form on the Flat which included a handicap success off 85 at Salisbury and, provided he can jump, should prove more than capable of making a winning debut over timber for Donald McCain with the yard currently in excellent form at present. Big Thunder returns from a year off the track and is respected along with Enola Gay who should be happier on softer ground.

TEESCOMPONENTS LAD was fair in bumpers and shaped with a good deal of encouragement on his hurdling debut at Hexham recently, staying on late to take second. He's open to improvement and gets the nod to make it second time lucky. Enola Gay will find this easier than his latest Ascot assignment and is feared, ahead of useful Flat performer Swashbuckle.

A race where very few of these are in any sort of form so the tentative vote goes to PADDLING as his third at the track nine days ago looks the strongest on offer in a contest that doesn't inspire much. Frankie Ballou returns to fences and has a first-time hood to potentially eke out improvement, while Mr Witmore has finished third on his last couple of starts and can play a minor role once again.

MR WITMORE ran a fine race considering that he was a long way out of the handicap when third at Hexham last month and, racing off his correct mark this time, he could be the answer to a race lacking strength in depth. Cup of Ambition hasn't cut much ice under Rules so far, but this point winner still has time on his side and may emerge as the main danger ahead of Paddling and Amuse Me.

This looks an impossible contest to decipher with the majority of these having a point to prove but SKIPPING ON makes his handicap debut for Laura Morgan having finished second in a point-to-point when last seen in November 2016 and, on some of his Irish maiden hurdle form, could improve on that form. Mr Mafia is back on his last winning mark and warrants consideration along with Claude Carter.

Hard to place much faith in any of these, but MR MAFIA is back on his last winning mark and finished fourth in a much better handicap than this at Doncaster a fortnight ago, so he could be the answer. Claude Carter is firmly into the veteran stage of his career but he does know how to win at this level, while Hartside will surely stop the slide at some point.

The eight-year-old looks well handicapped and remains open to plenty of improvement on just his third start over fences. Ramonex ran well behind a smart type here last month and looks to be the main threat, just ahead of Middlebrow, who represents a yard operating at a healthy strike-rate in recent weeks.

ATTENTION PLEASE won pretty much as he liked over the extended 3m2f at Doncaster and, although an 11lb rise will obviously make life a lot tougher, he will prove difficult to beat if arriving in the same mood. Captain Mowbray did well to win at Wetherby, considering the mistake he made two-out, and he can show up well again, while Golden Investment is unlikely to be far away either.

But for almost crashing out at the second-last, CAPTAIN MOWBRAY surely would've won in more convincing fashion when opening his chase account at Wetherby.
