(4) FALSTAFF showed loads of ability in just five starts last year and his record is screaming that he is best fresh already from limited evidence. That being the case he looks a good bet to defeat (8) ATERISK who is the obvious and present danger. (6) AUTOUR DE MINUIT and (3) BAXTER DU BERLAIS look some way behind the principals.

One had to be impressed with the way (1) ZIALIGHT went about his business on his debut at Pau in January. He travelled so smoothly and powered clear in the straight to win by the longest looking ten lengths you have ever seen. He can only improve. (4) GARANCE FOREVER might take second in front of (7) GALANTE D'ARTHEL and (5) SABBATIQUE.

This mare has only raced the nine times and although victorious only once she was out of the frame on just one occasion. She is also still unexposed. A high class Grade Three hurdle here and of course all eyes will be firmly focussed on the extremely high class pair of (4) L'AUTONOMIE and (1) GALOP MARIN. Strong preference is for the former and this outstanding mare can continue her excellent record and especially as she goes so well when fresh which she is today. Her chief rival may just need this as well. (3) BERJOU and (2) HIGHWAY TO HELL are also very useful types.

(9) ROSELOVE HAS might be worth a punt having been an excellent second to a good sort over fences when last seen here in November and should be readied for a bold show. A hurdle race here confined to horses that have never raced or have run on the flat. It could throw up anything. However there is a very strong recommendation in the shape of (1) ERVAN. The Zambezi Sun gelding has won one of his four flat starts and looks certain to excel at this discipline. (12) KINGMAJA and (13) SO SWEET are both closely related to very smart animals and could be very close today. (10) RAYA SUCCES is also interesting.

A really good hurdling event here. It signals the return of the high class chaser (8) FIGUERO. The son of Yeats absolutely blasted his field in the Grade One Maurice Gillois Grand Steeplechase when last seen in November and should be able to outclass these but they are some good types who include (1) FATHER JAMES and (5) ACHOUR while (4) GRISY APPLE'S is also noted.
