Wall Of Worry is generally a consistent performer and she should be on the premises once more along with Royal Valentine, who finished runner-up over this C&D last time. However, the one to beat could be WHY THEN who was not at her best last time but has solid claims on her previous form.
Leap Day scored over this C&D earlier this month and she has solid claims once more but she might have to settle for second best this time to CALLMETONY, who is an admirably tough and consistent performer at this level. Dealing Lucky can take a hand if putting his best foot forward.
FIERY FOOTWORK recorded the highest last speed figure when getting within a neck of scoring in this grade over C&D (Tocco d'Oro fourth, Here comes Vinny fifth) and a repeat performance may suffice tonight. Dangers abound, however, in the shape of impressive maiden winners Mystic Era and Common Currency while Persian Ruler is moving in the right direction.
SODA KAPS showed plenty of speed when landing a better heat over 6f here last time and she will prove difficult to beat if in the same mood tonight. Lady Of The Forest got the better of Roaring Belle (second and third respectively) at this venue latest and should be able to confirm placings.
ZOSOGOOD wasn't disgraced when sixth over 6f here last time and, with the step up in trip/drop in grade combination likely to help, he can regain the winning thread. Colie Z is another dropping in class and warrants respect, while Ferocious Man makes up the shortlist.
Deflate The Bubble is holding her form well and has finished in the frame the last twice over C&D, but A WINK AND A SMILE is narrowly preferred now eased in grade on his first run at the track. The selection is making her first start since the summer but a prominent showing is expected. Rose's Turn completes the shortlist.
BERNADETTE'S SONG offered no threat at Philadelphia last time but may have just needed the run and she is given another chance after posting a very respectable speed figure on her preceding start in November. Isn't She Grand is a model of consistency but needs to raise her game to figure in this stronger company so a greater threat is posed by last time out scorer Kissa Melissa.
A small but select field in which the progressive WILD NEWS just holds sway following her impressive defeat of Granted Tiger over track and trip in December. Bruce Levine's filly looks to be improving at a rate of knots now and can enhance her already impressive strike-rate by chalking up another success, this time at the expense of Wind Caper who has run a couple of fine races in defeat most recently. Another in form performer is Five Grand Girl and she completes the shortlist.
Nub Thrower hasn't been disgraced in two starts so far and it wouldn't be the greatest surprise to see him improve but there is plenty to like about the chances of MASTER SPLASH. The selection made a debut full of promise when second here earlier in the month and wouldn't need to improve too much on that opening effort to get off the mark tonight. Southbeachsnady is another to consider following a couple of encouraging displays so far.
