Expert Analysis
This turned into a sprint finish by any standards, let alone staying ones, with Double Major’s 21.83s for the final 400m (123.6% finishing speed) easily fastest by a winner on a card in which every other race was at much shorter. As such, it needs treating with some caution though did seem to advertise the well-being of all five protagonists.
DOUBLE MAJOR (110+ here, 113 previously) is speedy by staying standards and prevailed narrowly under a canny ride, making nearly all, shaken up with 600m to go, edging left but running on well. He might be effective at 2400m given a chance.
GOYA SENORA (110 here, 102 previously) seemed to run very well, despite not being well placed when things finally exploded into action, quickening to challenge but just giving best. He won this in 2022 and had still seemed capable of useful form of late.
SEVENNA’S KNIGHT (109 here, 112 previously) was close to form, mostly in 2nd, leading briefly around 400m to go and only just losing out. He managed 5th in the Arc last year and is not short of pace by staying standards.
PRESAGE NOCTURNE (109 here, 111 previously) ran creditably, held up in touch and just unable to match the turn of foot of others.
COLUMBUS (107+ here and previously) got boxed in up the inner for much of the closing stages, but for which he might have run above his previous form, though this is not form to trust implicitly.
