Expert Analysis
On balance, one of the weakest G2s in the European pattern, albeit restricted to fillies, and it probably took just useful form to win it this year. It was somewhat tactical, the overall time modest and the winner’s final 400m of 22.53s equal to a 105.5% finishing speed on ground that was just on the quicker side of “good”.
GODSPEED (104+ here, 99+5 previously) had plenty going for her having shaped quite well in better company and delivered under a no-nonsense ride, settled in mid-field before smooth headway to lead 300m out, always in command after. This could be her trip.
EPONINE (102 here, 100 previously) ran her best race yet, close up and leading briefly again around 400m out.
BETTY CLOVER (100 here and previously) ran every bit as well as when beaten narrowly in a listed race at Goodwood the time before, in 3rd/4th and briefly boxed in 300m out. This trip may prove her upper limit.
RELAXX (99 here and previously)
VADINSKA (96+ here and previously) was all the rage after winning a newcomers at Saint-Cloud in sensational style but had beaten little that day and seemed too inexperienced for this at this stage, on edge beforehand and pulling early, with a bit to do 450m out, initially green, but going on at the death. She could yet prove up to Group standard, though this was not a strong race of its type.
GHOUFRANN (90 here, 104 previously)
TIGRESS OF GAUL (86 here, 97 previously)
MIMOS (82 here, 95 previously)
