A good quality claimer with some interesting contenders, non more so that SPRING JIM. The 10-y-o is fit from a spin over hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival and although well held on that occasion, his previous form on the level was rock solid and suggested there are more races to be won with this one. Scriptwriter has been in good from over timber and takes the eye returning to this sphere, although the returning Just Lille and Sunwise cannot be ruled out, along with Chester Cup also-ran Halla San.
Possible to make a case for most of these on one score or another, but Halla San looks the pick at the weights and could prove the safest option. Just Lille would prove dangerous if in top shape on her return.

One time Classic hope Awzaan ended last season with a below par effort at Newmarket in the autumn but had shown enough previously to suggest this will prove his optimum trip and his Newbury third to the classy Delegator last year certainly reads well. He remains an interesting prospect but preference, on this occasion, is for the match-fit KAKATOSI, who made a thoroughly likeable reappearance when second at Haydock two weeks ago and is entitled to strip fitter for that outing. Palace Moon is a talented performer on his day and rates best of the rest.
A tight contest with preference for specialist 7f perfomer Kakatosi who has clearly come back in excellent heart and has more to offer. Awzaan is preferred narrowly to Palace Moon for the runner-up spot.

Montaff wasn't disgraced in the Chester Cup and this track should play to his strengths more, while recent hurdles winner Oasis Knight has to be respected if returning to the Flat duty in similar form. Prospect Wells is another with definite claims if putting his best foot forward but THEOLOGY is the class act on show here and is entitled to have benefited considerably from his recent Ascot reappearance effort. Newmarket handicap winner Times Up deserves this step up in class and is also considered.
There have to be slight stamina doubts against Times Up back at this longer trip following his career-best effort when narrowly winning a Newmarket handicap recently, but he gets the nod ahead of Theology and Cracking Lass.

Ancient Cross was much too strong when landing a hot contest here at the Dante meeting but he has more to do today racing off a 6lb higher mark and another chance is given to JOHANNES. The 8-y-o was a fair way adrift of the former in that aforementioned contest but he endured a troubled passage having started slowly and looks really well treated now. The in-form Doctor Parkes, Swiss France and Waffle are others to come under consideration.
Ancient Cross remains unexposed at the minimum trip, having a few of these behind when taking another step forward over this C&D recently, and is worth sticking with off his revised mark. Irish-raider Celerina looked one to keep on the right side when making a winning return at Dundalk and should also go well, alongside Johannes, who is better than he was able to show here last time.

BROCKLEBANK made a debut full of promise when only narrowly denied a winning start in a warm-looking Haydock maiden earlier this month and, entitled improve for that experience, he is taken to go one better this afternoon for the red-hot Kevin Ryan stable. Apostle displayed improved form to finish second here at the Dante meeting and heads the list of dangers from the experienced One Kool Dude and the Mark Johnston-trained newcomer Comical.
Comical is probably the pick of the newcomers, but this could ultimately rest between Apostle and Brocklebank, with the former preferred following a very promising run over C&D last week.

Common Touch was a game winner over this C&D earlier this month and will be expected to mount a bold follow up bid, but BAPTIST is narrowly preferred. Andrew Balding's charge made the perfect start to his career when landing a Newbury maiden on debut back in September and although well held when upped to Group 3 company subsequently, he should find this grade much more to his liking. JEER is taken to land the finale having got the better of the reopposing Sancho Panza in some style at Doncaster in April and despite a 6lb rise in the weights, he is hard to oppose with the talented Oliver Greenall taking over in the saddle. Danderek comes into this winning form following his recent Beverley success and seems sure to attract his fair share of support, while Meetings Man and Ravi River both merit respect.
An amateur event with an open look to it, but anything Richard Fahey sends out here is entitled to maximum respect and Danderek is given the nod upped to a trip which should suit. Jeer and Sancho Panza filled the first 2 places in a similar event at Doncaster last month, the latter going one better since, and should get involved again.
