It was a little disappointing APOLLO LADY failed to follow up an impressive success at Worcester when a beaten favourite at Towcester latest, but Alan King's mare looked ill at ease on the stiffer course that day and is handed the vote to make amends back on a more conventional track. Papeete couldn't be ruled out back at a more realistic level after finishing a distant third in a warm Novices' event at Chepstow, while Lamanver Homerun, a bumper winner in the summer, should derive considerable improvement from her initial jumping experience at Lingfield, where she faded into third after looking a danger three from home.

King Coal sauntered clear for an eight-length success at Leicester and while he has been raised a whopping 14lbs, it would be folly to leave him out of calculations. Red Georgie has yet to build on a winning chase debut and he looks one to be wary of at present and preference is for LE JAGUAR. Paul Nicholls' six-year-old has dropped to the mark from which he was last successful and he ran well for a long way before his stamina emptied in the Sporting Index Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham.

Brown Fox struggled under a penalty when fourth at Ludlow and she may struggle racing off a 10lbs higher mark than she did when scoring at Hereford on her penultimate start. Compton Star had the beating of the progressive Pilca two runs back and couldn't be discounted off a 6lbs higher mark, but FEMME D'AVRIL made a pleasing first start under the care of David Pipe when fourth over today's C&D and she can make the most of the weight she receives all round. It would be surprising were Guymur not better than he has shown so far and any market move would be interesting.

Lorient Express was travelling sweetly into the straight before weakening in a matter of strides on his seasonal reappearance at Wetherby and it would be surprising were he not to improve significantly for that effort. Carthys Cross continues to run well in the face of defeat, but he may be seen to better effect when encountering a stiffer test of stamina and preference is for PEARL KING. He impressed with his jumping when making a successful chasing debut at Leicester and looks certain to improve further with that experience under his belt.

KIPSIGIS continues to improve with experience over timber and he arguably put up his best performance in defeat when chasing home Ben's Turn on heavy ground at Sandown. He had previously won his two previous starts over hurdles and today's better ground can help him regain the winning thread. Lord Sam enters calculations on the back of a close second behind Westerner two runs back, while the market will invariably prove the best guide to what's expected of Itsmyboy on his first start in 426 days. Tora Bora looks best of the rest and couldn't be discounted under his talented claimer.
