JOHNS SPIRIT has yet to finish out of the frame in six attempts, winning twice and narrowly beaten on his last couple of runs. His latest effort when just outpointed by Gores Island at Towcester was well advertised by the latter's subsequent Doncaster success and the O'Neill inmate can make a successful transition into handicap company. Chesil Beach Boy goes really well for his amateur pilot and again has conditions to suit after two C&D victories, while Dona and Bathwick Brave are also respected.
Bathwick Brave didn't find as much as expected at Bangor (2½m) last time but he travelled like a horse who should be winning races and the drop back in trip and fitting of visor could be just what's required. Chesil Beach Boy is seeking a hat-trick of C&D wins and is likely to make a bold bid, with Johns Spirit another unexposed sort who can go well.

He's not badly treated and has a course and distance victory on his CV. Zarrafakt is not the easiest to catch right by any means but has strong claims at his best and ran as well as ever when just denied by That'lldoboy at Newbury latest. Diamond Brook and Double Dizzy complete the shortlist.
Zarrafakt stands out in terms of handicapping and is worth siding with despite the trip being an unknown. The Victor Dartnall pair Nicto de Beauchene and Richard's Sundance are both weighted to figure as well, the latter on a particularly good mark if his jumping stands up to the test.

SHUIL ROYALE still has plenty of room for improvement over timber after just five hurdling outings and was far from disgraced when third to Our Father at Ascot last time. Trip and ground suit and he should give a good account off an unchanged mark. Billy Merriott also looks on a fair mark for his handicap bow and pushed the odds-on African Broadway close last time at Exeter. He rates the danger with Barrie Burn and Dancing Dude also noteworthy.
Not especially competitive with a number arriving here with doubts surrounding them. Billy Merriott is a fascinating handicap debutant, but that's likely to be factored into his price and a chance is instead taken on Shuil Royale getting David Arbuthnot off the cold list. Kingsmere may be the best of the rest.

The market could provide some clues as to what is expected of French import Unpartou on his debut for the champion trainer but he 'll have to be useful to outpoint the highly progressive IT'S A GIMME. The O'Neill gelding battled on powerfully to defeat the talented Colour Squadron last time and can concede weight all round here. Waterunder and Josh's Dreamway have the potential for improvement but will be hard pressed to trouble the selection if he repeats the level of that winning Newbury performance.
It's A Gimme has looked most promising so far over hurdles and should be tough to beat. French-winner Unpartou can be expected to go well having joined Paul Nicholls, while Josh's Dreamway's best bumper form suggests she should be more than capable of figuring in a race like this.
