Marcus Tregoning had a winner here last Saturday and can repeat the dose in today's opener courtesy of ARCHELAO, who has improved for the switch to the all-weather over this C&D the last twice. The Cape Cross gelding finished well clear of a subsequent winner when runner-up in a maiden last time out and he looks very capable of going one better now dropping into selling company. Wisecraic (was also engaged here on Friday) narrowly landed a similar C&D event recently so rates an obvious threat, as does Buxfizz who drops in class for his return to the Flat.
Mighty Clarets will be popular with Hanagan back in the saddle, but Archelao is going the right way and could open his account with his sights lowered.

Mark Johnston has his string in fine form at present and his newcomer Scatter Dice, who makes plenty of appeal on paper, warrants the utmost respect, as does fellow debutant Basseterre, a 55,000gns Cape Cross colt representing the Charlie Hills yard. Experience often counts for so much in these events, though, and the preference is for DUBAWI CHEETAH, who showed ability when staying on for second once the penny dropped over 7f at Wolverhampton on her debut 12 days ago. That experience won't have been lost on her and this step up in trip promises to suit.
Dubawi Cheetah made a promising debut and can get off the mark upped in trip. She chased home a Mark Johnston-trained colt then so it will be interesting to see if money comes for Scatter Dice, a newcomer from the same yard. Fellow debutant Basseterre also has to be of interest.

Bill Turner landed this race in 2006 and 2007 and is represented in this year's renewal by The Dancing Lord, who has been performing with credit in defeat at Southwell recently. However, FARAWAY's recent efforts in claiming company in recent months give him the edge as he has his sights lowered. Ron Harris' charge has been handed a favourable draw this afternoon and Luke Morris continues to drive home the winners. Elsewhere, it would be foolish to rule out Chapellerie following some decent performances in maiden events.
Chapellerie shaped well at Kempton last time and can open her account dropped into selling company. Finalist and Faraway are a couple of others to consider.

Round three of the Blue Square Sprint Series and THE STRIG is taken to build upon his C&D victory last weekend off a 3lb higher rating. Stuart Williams' charge was always well placed the way things unfolded that day and, from gate two, William Carson is expected to command a good racing position again here. Desert Strike landed a 5f handicap here on Wednesday but saves his best efforts for the minimum trip. With Sulis Minerva raised 6lb for his last-time-out victory in a weaker contest, the main danger may turn out to be the ever-dependable Dancing Freddy, who returns to polytrack after five consecutive runs at Southwell.
Sulis Minerva appeared to have plenty up her sleeve when merely nudged clear to land a C&D handicap last month and will take some stopping if turning up in a similar mood. Fellow last-time-out winner The Strig should be thereabouts again, alongside the hardy Dancing Freddy.

Inconsistency plagues many of these low-grade handicappers but WAABEL looks handicapped to win races when putting his best foot forward. A C&D winner off 72 and 75 last term, the selection was defeated into fourth off a mark of just 62 last weekend but was not suited with how things panned out, having been settled in an uncompromising position off a sedate gallop. Dangers are plentiful and Captain Dimitrios and Speak The Truth are respected having landed previous rounds of this series. Hatta Stream and Showboating are two others capable of making their presence felt.
Every bit as competitive as the first division half an hour earlier. Recent winner Hatta Stream has won off a higher mark in the past and is likely to make a bold bid to follow up, but preference is for Showboating, who shaped like the best horse in the race last time and races off the same mark here. The hat-trick seeking Speak The Truth completes the shortlist.

Fratellino showed plenty of dash on his return from a break here two weeks ago and, viewed as a possible Royal Ascot horse for 2012 by trainer Alan McCabe, another bold bid from the front looks assured. However, there is reason for thinking ALBEN STAR may be a little bit better than a handicapper and he is taken to build upon a very impressive victory at Wolverhampton last time, when drawn wider than ideal and having to weave his way through a pack of horses en route to victory. Thunderball and Lujeanie have minor money in their grasp but may struggle to beat the selection, who worked with Wootton Bassett as a juvenile and looks a pattern performer in the making.
Alben Star has the potential to be better than a handicapper and can continue to make up for lost time by landing this. In-form Lujeanie can chase him home.

In relation to the two quality handicaps earlier on the card, this looks a low-key end to proceedings and nothing makes strong appeal. A tentative vote goes to GREEN LEGACY, who rattled the crossbar on his handicap debut over 1m here and is taken to defy a 2lb rise now tackling this longer trip. Masters Club is another that is expected to relish this stiffer test, having been outpaced over shorter of late, although the main danger is could be David Evans' hat-trick seeker Complex, raised 3lb for scoring over the extended mile at Wolverhampton earlier in the month.
All of these bar Foster's Road are going up in trip. Complex is going the right way now and is fancied to complete a hat-trick at the main expense of Green Legacy and Masters Club.
