Qaspal is one of a number of promising bumper types on show and showed plenty of pace on his only start in Ireland over a year ago. He now has his first start for Philip Hobbs and looks interesting. PEPE SIMO has his quirks but showed commendable resilience to score on his hurdling debut over course and distance. He should benefit from the experience and can follow up here under a penalty. Wade Farm Billy has place claims whilst Dimaond Brook, Eastern Paramour and Doctor Foxtrot are all worth a second look.
Hurdling newcomers Miller's Dawn and Qaspal are likely to play their part judged on their bumper performances, but Pepe Simo did the job well enough here last month and promises to defy his penalty.

Sandymac left supporters with burnt fingers at Fontwell in May after scoring there three weeks earlier. NOW LISTEN TO ME is not one of the Ditcheat stable stars but this looks a good opportunity for him to land a first chasing victory. This drop in trip should suit and his overall form profile affords him decent claims against predominantly exposed sorts. I'moncloudnine improved throughout last term and has a course and distance success to his name. He should be straighter for his reappearance run. Dream Falcon and Terrible Tenant are consistent sorts in this grade and should get involved at the business end.
Several with claims in a tricky handicap. I'moncloudnine and Eljay's Boy are worth considering, but it could be worth taking a chance with chasing debutant Patton, who showed he could get competitive off this mark over hurdles and may do better in this sphere.

Orbital Orchid has a fitness advantage over some better fancied rivals and this improver can go well with her low weight. OVER SIXTY enjoyed a fine season at a good level last season and was over the top when disappointing on her final outing. She ran a fine fourth behind Quevega at the Cheltenham Festival and looks on an attractive mark for her seasonal reappearance. Her stable has found its form of late. Argento Luna was another to enjoy a progressive campaign last term and his yard has made a splendid start to the main part of the season. Pepite De Soleil remains relatively unexposed in her second season, likewise the lightly-raced Caoba.
Possible to make a case for the whole field. Caoba has taken her form to a new level since joining Victor Dartnall and gets a tentative vote with her yard firing on all cylinders. Argento Luna and Dansimar may emerge best of the rest.

Last year's David Nicholson Mares' winner Whiteoak is reported back to her best by Donald McCain and is worth noting but Celestial Halo is the best horse on show and will almost certainly be a leading contender come the 2010 Champion Hurdle. However, he's unlikely to be cherry ripe for this reappearance on a track that will not play to his strengths. He is reluctantly passed over in favour of BLUE BAJAN. The latter has given three excellent performances on the level this year and can make his finishing kick count on this speed track on decent ground. Mamlook and Katies Tutor are both race-fit and the former must have good claims after his second placing in the Cesarewitch.
Celestial Halo will take some beating if running up to his Champion Hurdle form, but could be vulnerable to rivals with a fitness edge on his seasonal debut and Blue Bajan looks a safer option following his runs on the Flat recently.

Bakbenscher is an interesting recruit to the larger obstacles and this small but select bunch should provide a splendid spectacle with all harbouring bigger options. Only a narrow preference is afforded to GULLIBLE GORDON on the premise that his fencing on his chasing debut at Chepstow was immaculate. A similar round would make him hard to beat. Kangaroo Court has also been impressive in two chase victories and it would be no surprise to see him complete the three-timer. He holds Red Admiral on recent Cheltenham running.
Kangaroo Court and Gullible Gordon have dazzled over fences thus far and will have their fan clubs out in force here, but it would be wrong to overlook Bakbenscher, who is held in some regard by Alan King and could well represent value in receipt of weight on his chasing bow.

ELLERSLIE GEORGE has thrived since joining Nick Williams and will be suited by racing right-handed here. He jumped continuously right when just touched off by Tempsford at Bangor last time and has a fitness advantage of many of these rivals. Kilcrea Asla, fit from a spin over hurdles and sure to be suited by trip and ground, looks value-for-money each-way while Beat The Boys was most impressive when scoring at Chepstow in useful handicap company and can go well again. Nenuphar Collonges is consistency personified and should be in the mix along with Valley Ride and Carruthers.
Carruthers is just the type of second-season chaser it pays to follow, but competition for the lead in this big field just takes the edge of his claims. Slight preference is for The Package, who should be more patiently ridden and is unexposed at this sort of trip. Paul Nicholls' record in the race means The Tother One also has to enter the reckoning on his return.

Robain's dam won twice on the level and a couple of hurdles in the French Provinces so is one to keep an eye on. VALENTINE VIC has been spoken of in positive terms by Paul Nicholls and the winner of two Irish points is taken to make a winning start to life with the champion trainer. The market should prove informative as to the respective chances of debutants from other leading yards. Pride In Battle and Plettenburg fall into that category, whilst John's Gift would have a chance on the best of last term's efforts when runner-up in a fair Sandown bumper.
Several interesting newcomers from yards that have done well in these races in the past and the betting will prove extremely informative. Valentine Vic, Pride In Battle and Robain all look likely types and are preferred in that order.
