Probably a race for minimum stakes given that none of the contenders can offer anything more than snippets of concrete form over jumos. If EARLY WINGS can translate his best hurdles efforts to the chasing game, he should go well off a fair mark. He was placed in a Group 3 race over a mile in Germany as a two-year-old and has a handful of top-five finishes in big-field handicaps over timber. Rustler was second in a handicap chase at Ludlow before Christmas, but has more of a Flat racer's pedigree and must defy a big weight, too. New Rackheath has scored here over hurdles, but that win was a bolt from the blue.

BOOMTOWN KAT hasn't done much wrong in finishing second in maiden hurdles at Warwick and Hereford this spring - races in which the principals pulled a long way clear of the rest. There are one or two sexier options from bigger yards, but that should ensure some value. Ruby Walsh favours Now Listen To Me of Paul Nicholls' pair and, while he has shown promise (may have found the going too soft at Chepstow last time), stablemate Penyfan Dawn makes equal appeal, assuming he jumps well. He beat a decent yardstick when landing a Taunton bumper in March. Bob Run has shown enough to suggest he will at least make the frame.

Tarsus hails from an in-form yard and is on the scent of a hat-trick after handicap wins at Chepstow and Bangor. He made rather hard work of justifying odds-on favouritism at the latter venue and is now 5lb higher, but he will still pose a threat to ALFRED'S TOWER who reverted to hurdles to win a handicap over 2m 6f here last month. He is lightly raced and still 2lb below the mark he ran third off in Nicto De Beauchene's 3m handicap chase here in December and should go well for Ruby Walsh. Nicky Henderson's Terramarique is respected, while four of the others boast course wins.

First Avenue suffered a blip at Ludlow last time when pulled up in a race he was favourite to win, but this Flat and hurdles scorer can be expected to bounce back for the Gary Moore yard which has mounted a couple of successful raids on this course in recent weeks. Even so, he will have to be at his best to topple NEARBY who is going the right way and followed a maiden hurdle win at Newbury with a second to Bedizen in a novices' handicap at Stratford. Art Trend flopped at Plumpton last time and while he is capable of leaving that form behind, the improving Bingo Des Mottes looks a better option.

This course sets more of a jumping test than many give it credit for, but TURTHEN won over fences as a young horse in France and is a generally sound leaper who brings top-class hunter chase form to the table after finishing second to Cappa Bleu at the Cheltenham Festival. He has since gained a smooth success round here, beating Get My Drift by more than six lengths. The only blemish was a mistake at the second last. This is hardly a cakewalk given that Imperial Sun and Who Else Knew can boast some respectable form, but Turthen has not had much racing for his age and should still be relatively fresh.
