Verdict

FUSHE JO has the strongest Flat form of this line-up (rated 79 in that code) and he had the reopposing Cornell Precedent (3rd), Patavian (6th) and Hair Of The Dog (pulled up) behind when second on his hurdling bow at Perth last month. He pulled hard in the early stages that day, which probably didn't help his cause, but he showed plenty of ability when chasing Mr Crystal (has won again since) to the line and the experience should have done him the power of good. Tomorrow's Dancer and Smugglers Bay are hurdling newcomers to watch closely in the betting market.

Verdict

Dougie Costello got a good tune out of Cash On Friday when narrowly getting the better of AD MURUM in a driving finish at Kelso ten days ago but he has a 7lb penalty to contend with today and there's a suspicion that George Moore's charge, who appeared to slip on the turn for home that day, will be up to reversing the form this afternoon. Richard Guest has his string in fair form and Ballyboe Boy, who races off a career low mark on his return to fences, could run a big race at rewarding odds if the ground remains on the quick side.

Verdict

ARCTIC GHOST failed to get his head in front in two hurdling starts but he looked a different prospect altogether when switched to fences earlier this year and relished the galloping nature of the track when scoring over C&D on his latest run back in April. An imposing gelding with plenty of scope, the Noel Wilson-trained 5yo appears to have the potential to improve significantly past his initial handicap mark of 106. Scots Grey, Mandingo Chief and the course specialist Silver Knight may provide the stiffest opposition.

Verdict

There was plenty to like about the way Herbie shaped on his racecourse debut in a 2m bumper here in March and significant support in the betting would be hard to ignore as he takes to hurdles for the first time today. Preference at this stage, however, is for ATTICUS BOY, who followed up last month's Sedgefield selling victory with an even more convincing display on his first run for new connections at the same course earlier this month. Verdict

This could boil down to a match between Like A Lord and ELLERSLIE GEORGE, with the latter taken to come out on top. Howard Johnson's charge, a good ground hurdle winner at 2m4f, improved on his chasing debut form when third behind a couple of subsequent winners over an inadequate 2m at Sedgefield in May and he will relish the extra yardage on offer today as he makes his seasonal bow. Silent Bay should chase the principals home.
